Airspeed

Pitch and trim for the best glide airspeed. Proper trimming

will lighten your workload.

Best Place to Land

Immediately find an airport or other landing spot within

gliding distance and turn toward that spot. Consider

the factors associated with landing on roads, fields,

water, trees, etc. (Review Chapter 18 of the AFH for more

information.) Use the Nearest page on the GPS, use

ForeFlight’s Glide Advisor, and remember the rule of thumb

for glide distance: 1000 ft = 1.5 miles.

Checklist

Accomplish memory items and follow up with the checklist

as time permits.

Let ATC know what is going on. Squawk 7700.
