ARKLOW Arklow Amazons 13 Greystones 7 The Arklow Amazons took to the pitch at home on 28 January against Greystones in their first match in the Women’s League Division 3 since mid-December. A try from Greystones after just five minutes was to be their only score of the night. Solid defence by Arklow then denied Greystones time and again, this was typified by Rebecca New who seemed to be everywhere the action was all night. An excellent result and a great springboard for the second half of the season. The Arklow U-14 girls are delighted to announce that they will be sponsored by The Broken Chair Cafe. The entire team were on hand this morning to meet owner Cliona Ennis-Byrne at the official hand over of their new set of jerseys. The Byrne family are great supporters of Arklow Rugby as both players and sponsors and look forward to great times ahead. CARLOW Co Carlow’s little buzzy ‘Bees’ inclusive team is always growing. They love seeing new faces and new players are ALWAYS welcome. Please contact the club if you have any questions about joining! ENNISCORTHY Pictured - Ivan Poole in Enniscorthy in 2018 after winning the Provincial Towns Cup with young supporters Mark Byrne and Ben Kidd who now, just a few short years later, got the chance to play alongside Ivan in an AIL match v Clonmel two weeks ago. The newly formed South-East Lions, an amalgamated team of Enniscorthy and Wexford Wanderers U-18.5 girls, are up and running and playing very well in the leagues GOREY A great morning of minis rugby was held recently in Gorey RFC with big numbers travelling from Co Carlow FC, Enniscorthy RFC and Rathdrum RFC. The club extended a massive thanks to all for their time in organising. KILKENNY Well done to Donal Kealy, Sean Dunne and Ruaidhri Galwey, who were part of the South-East U-17 squad who drew 27- 27 with the North Midlands recently. The future is bright. Kilkenny 32 DLSP 3 The Kilkenny women’s team secured an impressive win recently. There were scores from Tina Wright, Lieke Hoban, Lucy Harte, Eimear Kelly and a brace for Ciara Coone, while there was a standout performance from Jenny Kirwan. Coach TULLOW Tullow U-18.5s played the first round of the Tom D’Arcy Cup last weekend, beating Portarlington 24-17 in a wellfought, nail-biting match. Well done to all involved and good luck in the next round. RATHDRUM Thanks to Noel McMullen for traveling to the senior men's away game on Sunday, 16 January, to snap some super shots as always. Rathdrum faced Stillorgan and while the result didn't go Rathdrum’s way, they put in a commendable showing with tries from Ciaran Phelan (2), Danny Tuke and Conor Parsons. WICKLOW There was a first ever away win for Wicklow in the Energia Women’s AIL, beating Malone RFC 13-12. Emma Curran bagged a try, which she converted herself, while Beth Roberts slotted two penalties. After a tough start to the first AIL campaign, the team are growing into the competition. WEXFORD WANDERERS Wexford Wanderers had a unique type of training this week with a visit from the Rescue Helicopter 117, the helicopter landing on the floodlit front pitch as part of their own training. The club is always happy to accommodate Rescue 117. Minis rugby at Wexford Wanderers is free to join now for the rest of the season and the club are busy recruiting boys and girls of all ages, with particular focus on adding to the U-7 age group.
