Restriction has alsobeen imposed on holdingmeetings, rallies and publicgatherings in the campus.BB asks banks to follow Covidguidelines till Feb 21DHAKA : Bangladesh Bank (BB) hasinstructed banks to follow until February 21the guidelines it issued earlier for operatingbanking activities to fight off Covid-19,reports UNB.The payment system department of BB onThursday asked banks to follow theguidelines till February 21 considering thepresent situation of Covid-19 pandemic.On January 24, the central asked banks tooperate those with half of their manpower asper the government's instructions to preventCovid-19 virus infection.The central bank's Department of Off-SiteSupervision issued guidelines adding thatbanking activities should be conducted withhalf the staff through roster following thehygiene rules.However, the concerned institution will beable to decide on its own need to continuethe required banking services, it said.The central renewed the instruction onThursday and sent it to the top executives ofbanks to follow the hygiene rules forpreventing the spread of coronavirus.As per the guidelines, officers / employeesdoing office physically must be fullyvaccinated.It said officers / employees absent from theoffice at that time will be considered asworking from home.Officers / employees working from homewill be stationed at their respectiveworkplaces and will complete the officialactivities virtually (e-tendering, e-mail, SMS,WhatsApp and other means).Hygiene rules must be followed by allofficers / employees of banks-financialinstitutions. Customers who come to receiveservices must wear masks.The central bank also instructed banks tokeep enough money in the ATM outlets andMobile Financial Service along with assignedadequate manpower for ensuringuninterrupted financial services to meetnecessary cash demand of customers.Zebra deaths: SafariPark project directorshunted outDHAKA : Md Zahidul Kabir has beenshunted out as the project director ofBangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park inGazipur in the wake of the deaths of 10zebras in the past one month.Mollah Rezaul Karim, forest conservator ofthe Wildlife and Nature Conservation Areain Dhaka, has been given the additionalresponsibility of the popular park. This wasannounced by the Ministry of Environment,Forests and Climate Change in a notificationon Wednesday.On January 31, assistant forest conservatorand in-charge of the park, Tabibur Rahman,and vet Dr Hatem Sazzad Md Julkarninewere removed from their positions andtransferred to the forest department inDhaka. Md Rafiqul Islam, assistant forestconservator of the social forest department,Faridpur, and Md Mostafizur Rahman,veterinary surgeon of Bangabandhu SheikhMujib Safari Park, Cox's Bazar, wereappointed in their places.Ten zebras died at Bangabandhu SheikhMujib Safari Parkin in a space of one monthtill Saturday. Nine of the earlier populationof 22 zebras at the park died betweenJanuary 2 and 24, according to the parkauthorities. The Ministry of Environment,Forest and Climate Change also formed afive-member inquiry committee to find outthe cause of the zebra deaths and fixaccountability. It has been given 10 days tosubmit the probe report.UNB has learnt that the committeemembers had already spoken with theowners of a South African farm from wherethe zebras were imported. Under the situation, Razzaquesaid "we have to raise rice production quicklyin order to keep the rice price under controlof the lower income people."
