Champagne is undoubtedly one of the 

world’s most famous and prestigious 

wine regions, which doesn’t come as a 

huge surprise as they have thousands 

of years wine making experience 

under their belt; a fascinating process 

that shows the intricacy of wine 

making in all its glory. 

Champagne is made from three predominant 

grape varieties: Chardonnay, which gives 

elegance and finesse, Pinot Noir adds elegance 

and structure, and Pinot Meunier offers fruit 

and backbone. Popping a Champagne cork still 

remains the epitome of any celebration and the 

recent surge in UK sales shows that our thirst for 

the finer things in life are still very much alive.

Chardonnay is always the main component used, and 

creates that original, defining characteristic of the 

Taittinger Champagne House. 

It is this unique style, which has been present 

since the outset; the style that the tasting panel 

always scrupulously seek to maintain. But nothing 

is ever certain. “Our work is based on humility and 

tranquillity”, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger once said. 

Humility is required in the face of a living raw material 

which is the result of the work of both nature and 

man, with no guarantees about how it develops and 

what the result will be. Tranquillity is necessary for 

the patience and long hours required for the perfect 

maturation of the wine and before it sees the light of 

day.

Sparkling wine is no longer associated 

only with special occasions, it is 

increasingly finding its way into our 

repertoire as a drink for everyday 

enjoyment. 

Still flying the flag for sparkling is Prosecco, and a 

change in regulations now allows for the production 

of Prosecco Rosé - our Ca’Bolani Rosé is a shining 

example of this new extended wine variety. Over 

to France and Simmonet-Febvre’s Crémant de 

Bourgogne offers a harmoniously balanced wine, 

whilst being superb value for money. 

Back on our own fine shores, the quality of British 

wine is better than ever and the understanding of 

the fabulous wines we can produce has been hugely 

helped by consumers enjoying staycations rather 

than venturing to sunnier climes. Our vision of having 

representation from wineries across the South West

Ca’Bolani 

Lined with 999 cypress trees that celebrate 

and protect an extraordinary biodiversity, 

the vineyard estate of Ca’Bolani is located 

in Cervignano del Friuli at the heart of the 

Aquileia DOC appellation in the south of 

Friuli-Venezia Giulia where the cultivation of 

the vine dates back to Roman times. 

Wine production benefits from a unique micro-climate 

created by the sea breezes from the nearby Adriatic 

Sea and the proximity of the mountains to the north 

east, ensuring a mild climate all year round. 

The richness and variety of the soils at the estate 

give each vineyard their individual character, and the 

estate boasts many different varietals which thrive in a 

garden-like environment and which are characterised 

by distinctive perfumes, aromatic fullness and natural 

elegance. 

Our Prosecco Spumante Brut DOC is made from 

100% estate grown Glera grapes softly pressed and 

fermented following the classic Charmat method. 

Bright straw-yellow in colour with fine and persistent 

bubbles, this wine displays hints of wisteria flower and 

green apple on the nose, with fine citrus fruits on the 

palate with almondy overtones. 

Pleasantly fruity and well-balanced, Ca’Bolani 

Prosecco is excellent as an aperitif, but can be the

Villa Sandi 

The heart of Villa Sandi lies in Treviso, where 

their pursuit of elegant sparkling wines 

started in 1622. In this picturesque corner of 

northeast Italy, the Moretti Polegato family 

has devoted passion and energy to grape 

growing, wine culture and exploration for 

many generations. Across five estates, Villa 

Sandi’s tapestry of vineyards are unique in 

representing every DOCG area of Prosecco. 

The jewel in the crown is their 1.5-hectare estate 

in the Cartizze region. The Villa rises from a fertile 

countryside in which fields and farms, nowadays as 

well as in the past, pay homage to the local history. 

The key to Villa Sandi’s longevity is care, attention 

and respect for nature - preserving a healthy 

ecosystem, promoting biodiversity and protecting the 

environment informs every viticultural and business 

decision. From hydroelectric and photovoltaic power 

to insect hotels and bee colonies, Villa Sandi knows 

that the wines of tomorrow rely on the actions of 

today. The winery also adopts vegan-friendly wine 

production. 

The iconic Villa, a beacon of Trevisan cultural heritage, 

is situated between the D.O.C.G. area of the Prosecco 

of Valdobbiadene and the D.O.C. area of the Montello 

and Piave wines. The Palladian style masterpiece, 

dating back to 1622, is also the main office of the 

company.

Argentina’s most popular grape variety, 

Malbec, has fast become a firm favourite 

across the country because of its robust fruity

Argentina also offers an incredible array of 

fresh and interesting whites like the indigenous 

Torrontes grape, whilst growing some familiar

Los Haroldos 

Bodega Los Haroldos, owned by the Falasco 

family, is one of Argentina’s leading familyowned 

wineries. 

Today the fourth generation continues the story that 

began in 1939 when Haroldo Santos Falasco, known 

as ‘Don Lolo’, began to wheel his bicycle through the 

streets of his small hometown of Chacabuco, 200km 

west of Buenos Aires, selling his wines from the 

basket on the front. Eighty years later, Franco Falasco 

and his siblings are responsible for their family’s 

legacy: creating wines of excellence and quality for 

the world to enjoy. 

Bodega Los Haroldos nestles in the San Martin 

department of the North Valley of Mendoza. The 

name ‘Los Haroldos’ was chosen by Jorge Falasco 

(the third generation of the family) to honour his 

father and brother, who shared the same name. 

The Los Haroldos crest features an angel raising a 

glass in salute. The angel represents all the previous 

generations of the family, sadly missed but whose 

legacy continues to this day. 

Here the vineyards can be planted up to 1500 metres 

above sea level. The microclimate here has chilly 

winters and hot, dry summers with cool nights. 

Vines are nourished by meltwater from snow on the 

Andes Mountains and grapes produce wines of great 

character and freshness. Malbec finds its greatest and 

most authentic expression here.

Created in 2006, Robert Oatley Vineyards aims to 

embody the best that Australia can produce where 

classic grape varieties are matched to the leading

different locations, a commitment to the regionality of

Along with grapes from the family properties, some 

dating back to 1858, the Oatley family draw upon 

select growers of excellence across a diverse range of

Located approximately 550 kilometres 

south of Santiago in a privileged spot in 

the Bío Bío Valley, Viña Agustinos is one 

of Chile’s southernmost wineries. With an 

abundance of volcanoes and rivers that 

flow through its vineyards, the winery was 

conceived to produce wines of the highest 

quality in a context of total sustainability. 

To achieve that, the winery has incorporated 

environmentally friendly and minimally invasive 

practices into its processes, as well as constant care 

for its employees and their families. In this unique 

setting, the winery owns a 300-hectare estate where 

the natural soil, wind, rain, and temperature conditions

Château Patache d’Aux is located in the 

town of Bégadan, in northern Médoc. 

The 58-hectare vineyard extends over both 

Bégadan and Saint-Christoly du Médoc. 

It is one of Bordeaux’s northernmost 

vineyards. Located at just 10 kilometres 

from the Gironde estuary and 30 kilometres 

from the Atlantic Ocean, the vineyard enjoys 

an oceanic climate. 

The Château Patache d’Aux plots are located 

10 kilometres away on two distinct geological 

formations which provide very different agro-wine 

characteristics. The vineyard is located in Bégadan, 

on the “Bégadan limestone” plateau. The second site 

on Saint-Christoly hill is set on terraces of alluvial 

gravel known as ‘Girondes’. Most of the vineyard 

is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 

The Patache d’Aux blend is completed with a small 

proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. 

Château Patache d’Aux is a blend of Cabernet 

Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, 

vinified in temperature-controlled raw concrete vats, 

then aged in French oak barrels. This wine is dense, 

structured and dominated by the loamy character of 

the terroir, with an aromatic nose of fresh fruit and 

sustained empyreumatic notes lent by a high level 

of Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is marked by 

lively attack, revealing fine freshness. The mid-palate 

is supported by fine, structuring woody notes and 

supple tannins. The finish is long, with silky-smooth 

tannins, although still a little firm when very young.

The Rhône valley is split into two 

very distinct halves, boasting 72,000 

hectares of vineyards, France’s 

second largest region under vine after 

Bordeaux.

If Burgundy is the home of Pinot Noir and 

Chardonnay then the steep valleys of the 

Northern Rhône are undoubtedly the Mecca for

Rhône also has one of the most unusual laws 

in wine history; in 1954, a law was passed in 

Châteauneuf du Pape forbidding the ‘flying over,

Located in the Rhône Valley in the village 

of Cornas, Jean-Luc Colombo has been 

producing top quality wines since the 1980’s. 

Jean-Luc’s fulfilment of a childhood dream 

came with the purchase of his first vineyard, 

a small parcel of old vines planted on a 

granite hillside overlooking the village of 

Cornas. 

The vineyards are located in the village of Cornas, on 

the right bank of the Rhône River on the steep slopes 

of the Northern Rhône Valley. The climate and terroir 

here create perfect growing conditions to produce the 

greatest expression of Syrah’s character, with granite 

soils and a delicate Mediterranean influence. 

The 1987 release of Jean-Luc’s first vintage of Cornas 

Les Ruchets was a great success, taking the French 

wine world by storm, and becoming the first in a long 

series of vintages of what is universally regarded as 

Colombo’s iconic wine. In 2012, the Domaine began 

the process of gaining certified organic status. 

Jean-Luc and Anne have overseen Jean-Luc Colombo 

wines since the first plot was purchased in the 1980s, 

and in 2010 their daughter, Laure, joined the family 

Domaine. A trained viticulturist and oenologist, her 

first vintages have already received critical acclaim. 

A rising star from the Rhône and one of the youngest 

from the region. Colombo & Fille wines are made in 

limited quantities by Laure. This boutique label is an 

inspired and personal story.

Château de la Deidière is an estate steeped 

in history: during the time of Louis XIV, 

the Château belonged to the Count of La 

Deidière of Pierrefeu. The King gave him the 

royal privilege to hunt and breed pigeons. 

He then built a Provençal dovecote bearing 

the family’s coat of arms. 

The history of the Fabre family and of Château de la 

Deidière came together after WWII when Henri Fabre 

acquired the property, in 1961. The estate is a living 

Provençal postcard that still offers diverse scenery 

between the olive trees, woods and scrublands, 

bordered by the river. An ideal terroir for rosés. 

An environment conducive to biodiversity. 

Château de la Deidière’s terroir borders the towns 

of Pierrefeu-du-Var, Puget-Ville and Cuers on 55 

hectares. These vineyards were planted more than 20 

years ago and are thriving today. 

The Fabre family are committed to offering high 

quality wines and focus on the respect of their 

environment. As a result of this commitment, their 

olive trees have been awarded the Ecocert Label and 

their vines are grown using ultra-sustainable farming 

methods. 

For example, cover crops are also used, favouring soil 

biodiversity. The richness and diversity of the area of 

La Deidière offer an ideal habitat for different plant 

and animal species, especially for bees living on the 

estate. Since 2019 the vineyard is classified HVE level 

3 for its work on environmental process.

Riesling is the flagship wine of 

Germany and it constitutes more than 

one-fifth of all wine production in the 

country - however this single varietal 

varies based upon the terrain.

The steep, south-facing slopes are the main 

areas where Riesling grapes are grown. Mosel 

Rieslings are aromatic with lovely mineral notes 

and intense acidity whereas those of the Pfalz 

are fleshier with spicy notes and high acidity.

range. The prevalence of veganism in today’s

change their methods of filtration, moving from

To create excellent wines, it takes special 

expertise and care. Our winemakers monitor 

every step of the wine – from the vine at 

the vineyard to the finished creation in the 

bottle. 

Bingen is home to the Reh Kendermann winery with 

further wine-making sites in Böchingen, Leiwen and 

Gau-Bickelheim. 

Their wines bear the hallmarks of experienced 

winemakers Philipp Closheim and Steffan Haub. They 

combine different grape varieties to create consistent 

and appealing wine styles, monitoring all aspects of 

wine-making. In co-operation with the wine growers 

they continually check the quality of the grapes 

during the growing season and jointly decide when 

the harvest should take place. After the grapes have 

been picked, they control the entire fermentation 

process from gentle pressing through to maturation 

in tanks and casks. Cellarmaster Harald Kroll also 

works with them on a daily basis and is responsible for 

consistent high quality. 

The freshly harvested grapes are pressed in less than 

three hours thanks to their modern grape transport 

system, which takes them in a custom-built container 

to nearby vinification centres. Only in this way can 

the flavours of fresh grapes be preserved in the glass. 

Thanks to the short distances, their white wines owe 

their fine balance between elegant fruit and acidity 

to rapid processing of the grapes in the vineyard, 

thereby allowing the aromas to develop their optimum 

potential later on.

Paola Sordo 

Italy 

The Sordo family has been tending vines and 

producing wines in the heart of Piemonte for 

more than a century. This iconic winery, run 

by Giorgio Sordo, owns vineyards in some 

of the best Barolo crus, including the world 

renowned Monprivato. 

Giorgio’s great-grandfather, Giuseppe, first 

established the company in the 19th century, yet it 

was his parents, Giovanni and Maria, who ensured the 

Sordo legacy by purchasing several vineyards, or Sorì, 

in the best Barolo districts. 

Giorgio created the Paola Sordo brand in honour of 

his daughter, who represents the fourth generation of 

Sordo to join the family business. 

They source fruit from six vineyards, each in different 

municipalities and microclimates. The fruit is 

brought to their modern winery that uses the latest 

technology. Their aim is to use a mix of tradition and 

innovation to achieve the highest quality in every 

aspect of production, from the harvest to the ageing 

of the wine. 

Province of Alessandria. It is fermented at controlled 

temperatures in stainless steel to preserve freshness 

and create a bright and vibrant white wine. The nose

The wines of Chateau Musar are 

unique expressions from a country 

with an ancient winemaking culture, 

having been cultivated from Lebanon’s 

high altitude Bekaa Valley for over 

6,000 years. 

French in origin, the Hochar family arrived in 

Lebanon in the 12th century and have remained 

there ever since. Chateau Musar’s red vineyards 

are situated towards the southern end of the 

Bekaa Valley, at relatively high altitudes and have 

the kind of calcareous, gravel and stone soils that 

encourage the production of high quality grapes.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Southern Rhône

and Moldova is often seen as one of

not knowing that Moldova has a rich 

winemaking history and it even has 

more vines per capita than anywhere 

else in the world.

New Zealand’s maritime climate 

allows a wide range of varieties to 

flourish and the country’s elongated 

coastline offers a diverse range of 

regional variation. 

Relatively new in terms of wine production, it 

wasn’t until the 1970’s when New Zealand began 

investing heavily and started its journey to the 

international wine market. 

New Zealand’s fortunes have soared over the 

last five years but there is no hiding behind the 

recent Sauvignon shortage, with Marlborough 

alone seeing a reduced yield of 30%. With 

demand far outstripping supply, New Zealand 

hasn’t been able to satisfy global demand for 

Sauvignon, meaning the wine trade has had to 

source alternatives from elsewhere. It certainly 

isn’t all doom and gloom however as we have 

introduced some superb new wines to our 

portfolio - Gordon Russell’s Esk Valley Albarino 

and rosé are real treats and the Craggy Range 

duo show New Zealand in all of its glory.

Cloudy Bay 

Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of 

the first five wine makers to venture into 

Marlborough. At the time, it was almost an 

unimaginable place to set-up a vineyard. But 

Cloudy Bay’s founder - David Hohnen - was 

convinced of its potential to produce great 

wine and invested in the best land of the 

region. 

Since then, Marlborough has risen to become New 

Zealand’s leading wine region, as well as one of the 

finest winemaking locations in the world. 

The winery was named after Cloudy Bay, a body of 

water explorer Captain James Cook came across 

during his voyage to New Zealand in 1770. His 

discovery coincided with flooding in the region, 

which washed large amounts of sediment into 

the sea. Noticing the water’s opaque appearance, 

Cook cleverly christened the area Cloudy Bay.

DFJ Vinhos 

DFJ Vinhos is one of the biggest, if not the 

biggest, professional creations of José Neiva 

Correia, the two entities are inseparable. 

José, born in 1949, who is one of the most prolific 

winemakers in Portugal, produces the best creations 

of DFJ Vinhos, the company he founded in 1998 and 

which today is responsible for an average annual 

production of ten million bottles. 

Descended from several generations of winemakers, 

both on his father’s and on his mother’s side, José 

Neiva Correia followed the family tradition with 

passion and professionalism. Those who know 

him well or work with him tell of the creativity and 

enthusiasm with which he creates each of his many 

and varied wines, sometimes using improbable blends 

of varieties with amazing results. 

José combines the careful selection of the varieties 

to be planted on the different vineyards with a policy 

of sustainable agriculture - with no place for chemical 

products in the soils. He uses organic matter only, 

selected according to the land, water table, climate, 

grape varieties, clones and the wine that is intended 

to be produced. 

The end results are high quality wines and 

productivity levels that are well above the average in 

Portugal. 

This careful work and environmental awareness on 

the estates has resulted in DFJ Vinhos being awarded 

certification for integrated production.

Cramele Recas 

Cramele Recas is a premium wine estate 

located on the far western fringes of the 

Romanian region of Transylvania/Banat – 

near Romania’s third largest city, Timisoara. 

wineries, with a wide range of International and 

Romanian varietals planted in the 1,000 hectare 

vineyard, and with a state of the art 15,000,000 litre 

winery. 

Founded in 1998, Cramele Recas has become 

a private Romanian/British company owned by 

winemaking team made up of three families, including 

husband-and-wife teams Philip and Elvira Cox and 

Hartley Smithers and Nora Iriate. 

In 1999, they purchased the vineyards and winery 

of the local state co-operative, a large vineyard of 

600 hectares which had farmed land in Recas since 

nationalisation in 1948. Previous to 1948 the land had 

belonged to German farmers, who came to the region 

in the 1700’s. The vineyards, said to be some of the 

oldest in the world, were first planted in the area by 

the Romans with documents dating back to 1447 on 

the Recas vineyard land. 

Over the last 10 years, Recas has developed a range 

of modern, fruit-driven wines that perfectly express 

the traditions and terroir of this ancient wine region. 

Today after more than 30 million euros of investment, 

Cramele Recaş is one of Romania’s most important

Wolf Wines 

Painted Wolf Wines is a winery with a 

purpose. Founded in 2006 by Jeremy 

and Emma Borg, both committed 

conservationists who create wines from a 

small number of growers in some of South 

Africa’s prime sites. 

Inspired by the African wild dog pack dynamic, 

Jeremy and Emma work with a community of talented 

individuals, including artists, designers and ‘pack 

member’ vineyards to bring the best available grapes, 

technical winemaking skills and label designs to 

Painted Wolf. 

The couple are particularly committed to the 

conservation of the African wild dog which is one of 

the most endangered species in Africa. This is why the 

brand have donated 5% vol of their UK sales to wildlife 

conservation charity TUSK Trust since 2006. 

Grapes are sourced from the main wine regions in 

South Africa; Stellenbosch, Paarl and the Swartland. 

These vineyards are mostly unirrigated and 

organically farmed. 

The Den wine range are vegan-friendly, social wines to 

be enjoyed with friends and family, named after ‘the 

den’, the heart of all African wild dog communities.

Nueve Vidas 

Our Nueve Vidas range is crafted south of 

Madrid in an area known as the Meseta - a 

vast expanse of flat land situated at about 

600 metres above sea level. The family run 

winery has a history dating back to 1904. By 

the 1930s their production reached a volume 

of approximately 160,000 bottles - a huge 

achievement at that time - and has gone 

from strength to strength ever since. 

During the Spanish Civil War, the winery was 

confiscated by the Republicans, before being returned 

to the family in 1940. It was in a dreadful state and the 

family had to start from scratch, focusing on a strict 

quality policy, with emphasis on bottled and monovarietal 

wines, as well as important investments in 

machinery and technology. A spirit that lives on today. 

The winery continues to lead the way in environmental 

practices such as organic production and the use 

of non-chemical pesticides. They also adhere to the 

strictest quality control systems of BRC and IFS. 

The grapes used to create the Nueve Vidas wines are 

hand-harvested in the cool of night to ensure all the 

characteristics of each of the varieties are preserved. 

Winemaker María José Mendoza, is responsible for the 

quality of the wines. She and her dedicated team take 

great care of the grapes to ensure the best possible 

quality from the moment of harvest and throughout 

the whole winemaking process.

Unshackled by the past, yet deep rooted in the ideal 

of “whatever I’m drinking should taste good dammit” 

and born from the virtues of every forward-thinking,

Federalist. 

To honour their Founding Fathers and their love of 

wine, they created a collection of varietals as big and 

bold as the men themselves. Thus, The Federalist

Federalist Party, Alexander Hamilton.

Allergens explained 

As of December 13th 2014 a new law concerning allergens came into effect that significantly affects the 

hospitality trade. Here is an outline of the regulations and what you need to do about them. 

The law states that all retailers MUST have information on allergen ingredients that MUST either be: 

• Written up front (on a menu or menu board) without the customer having to ask for help. 

• Sign posted to where information can be found or obtained. 

• Sign posted to say that information can be obtained from a staff member. 

If information on allergens is provided by word (by a staff member), this must be consistent and verifiable i.e. 

a business must have in place a process to capture information from recipes or ingredient lists from products 

bought in and this must be made available to staff. 

Allergens found in wine: 

Sulphur Dioxide (s) 

The key allergen found in wine is sulphur dioxide. Some wines may also contain traces of milk or eggs which are 

used as fining agents. In essence, wine is exempt from the new laws because wine labels already adhere to wine 

regulations stating that sulphites, egg and milk need to be indicated if detected in the wine: 

It is obligatory to state on the label that a wine contains sulphites if it contains more than 10mg/l of sulphur 

dioxide. This is shown as “Contains Sulphur Dioxide” (or sulphites/sulfites). SO 2 

is used to a certain extent in the 

making of virtually all wine and is a by-product of fermentation, therefore virtually all wine contains this level of 

sulphites. 

Milk (m) and Egg (e) 

Casein is the principal milk protein used as a fining agent. If used it is mostly for white wine to get rid of a brown 

colour or for clearing cloudy wine. Egg whites are used in the production of fine red wines for fining as they 

gently absorb the harsh and bitter tannins. 

Wines which are fined with milk or egg products (detectable limits in the finished product at levels above 0.25 

mg/litre) should be clearly labelled. 

Fish (f) 

Isinglass, a particularly pure protein obtained from the bladders of sturgeon and other freshwater fish has been 

used for fining wine for centuries. It reacts with the excess tannins in harsh young red wines and is occasionally 

used to clarify white wines to be bottled without a final filtration. There is a noticeable trend away from the use of 

animal-derived products, mainly in the interests of vegetarians and vegans. 

What you need to do: 

It’s not as complicated as you might fear. To ensure your wine list adheres to the law, all you need to do is add a 

statement on your wine list saying “Wines on this list may contain sulphites, egg or milk products. Please ask a 

member of staff should you require guidance.” However, you will have to ensure your staff are confident about 

which wines contain allergens. To help you do this, we recommend having a document or file available to staff 

showing all products and which allergens they contain. You can also check the back of the wine bottles where all 

allergen information will be shown, providing they are 2012 vintage onwards. Additionally, in wine staff trainings 

we suggest talking about wine allergens and showing where to find the information, so that everyone is aware.

Understanding alcohol percentages 

In this period of Government-led responsible drinking and increased awareness of health issues and alcohol 

consumption, it is important to know how many units of alcohol are in a glass of wine. 

It is a simple calculation of the percentage volume alcohol multiplied by the amount of wine in litres.

Terms & conditions 

1. Terms of Payment 

Payment is due by you in full and cleared funds within such period or on such date as we specify to you. 

Otherwise, if we do not give you a specific date then payment is due on the 24th day of the month following the 

month the invoice is dated. Failure to pay any amount due to us by the due date or any circumstances which give 

us reasonable concerns about your solvency, shall entitle us to suspend delivery of any undelivered orders. 

If payment is not made by the due date, we reserve the right to charge you interest on the overdue amount at 

the rate of 3% per annum above the Bank of England’s base rate from time to time. Such interest shall accrue 

on a daily basis from the due date until actual payment of the overdue amount. Any account falling overdue will 

not qualify for discount relating to the overdue amount and we reserve the right to withdraw without notice 

any discounts that have been allowed if payment is not made in full by the due date. All of our reasonable costs 

(including legal fees) incurred by us in collection of amounts due hereunder or in enforcing repossession under 

clause 5 below will be payable by you. In the event of any cheques or direct debit being dishonoured, we will 

charge you a reasonable fee to cover bank and administration costs. Any credit periods are granted at our 

discretion and can be amended, suspended or withdrawn by us at any time. 

2. Claims 

All goods should be examined at the time of delivery and any loss or damage signed for accordingly. If 

examination is impractical at the time of delivery, please sign delivery note “UNEXAMINED”. In any event St 

Austell Brewery must be notified of any discrepancies and/or breakages in deliveries received not later than the 

day following the day of delivery. 

3. Set-Off 

You shall pay us all amounts due in full without any set-off, counterclaim, deduction or withholding (except 

as required by law). We may at any time without limiting any other rights or remedies we may have, set-off or 

withhold any amount owing to us, or any company within our group, by you against any sum which we or any 

company within our group owe you. 

4. Insolvency 

Without affecting any of our other rights or remedies we may terminate this contract or suspend any further 

deliveries under these conditions with immediate effect and if the goods have been delivered but not paid for, the 

price shall become immediately due and payable, notwithstanding any previous agreement or arrangement to 

the contrary if; 

1. You become unable to pay your debts as they fall due, propose any voluntary arrangement or enter into a 

compromise or other arrangement with your creditors; 

2. An order is made or you become subject to a bankruptcy petition or become bankrupt; 

3. You become subject to a winding-up petition or go into liquidation or become subject to a petition for an 

administration order or upon the making of an administration order; 

4. You cease, or threaten to cease, to carry on all or a substantial part of your business; 

5. An encumbering party takes possession of, or a receiver or manager is appointed over any of your property or 

assets or; 

6. We reasonably believe that any of the events mentioned above is likely to occur and notify you accordingly. 

5. Risk & Retention of Title 

The risk in the goods shall pass to you upon delivery. However, notwithstanding delivery and passing of risk in the 

goods, title and property in the goods, including full legal and beneficial ownership shall not pass to you until we 

have received in cash or cleared funds payment in full for the goods delivered to you and any other goods which 

we have supplied to you in respect of which payment has become due. Payment of the full price of the goods 

shall include the amount of any interest or other sum payable under the terms of this and all other contracts 

between us and you under which the goods were delivered.

5. Risk & Retention of Title (continued) 

Until payment for the goods is received by us, you shall hold the goods on our behalf and shall store the goods 

separately from all other goods you hold so that they are readily identifiable as our property. If you sell the goods 

before we have been paid in full, you shall hold the proceeds of the sale on trust for us, and such sale is only 

authorised by us if it takes place in the ordinary course of your business. In the event of non-payment by you on 

the due date, we shall be entitled to enter your premises and take such measures as are reasonably necessary to 

recover the goods. We shall have absolute authority to retake, sell or otherwise deal with or dispose of all or any 

part of the goods in which title remains vested in us. We shall be entitled to seek a court injunction to prevent you 

from selling, transferring or otherwise disposing of the goods. 

6. Ownership 

Notice is hereby given that returnable bottles, cases and casks upon which a deposit may or may not have been 

charged are your responsibility. They will be credited in full when returned in good condition and their full value 

will be charged for if not returned. 

7. Availability of Stock, Vintages and Substitutions 

It is not always possible to ensure that stocks of wine in our list remain available until the publication of the 

next monthly amendment sheet or annual price list. If your order includes a wine which is either out of stock or 

discontinued we will select another wine as near as possible in style, quality and price. Similarly in the event of a 

vintage being out of stock the next available vintage will be sent unless we are instructed to the contrary. 

8. Prices 

All prices are quoted exclusive of V.A.T and are subject to market fluctuations, alterations in Customs and Excise 

Duties, and stocks being available. We reserve the right to alter any prices or specifications in accordance with 

these conditions at any time without notice to you and all goods are sold subject to prices and conditions ruling 

at the date of dispatch. All prices include delivery by our own transport providing that conditions stated under 

Clause 9 below are adhered to. 

9. Deliveries and Minimum Orders 

We reserve the right to state a minimum value and/or quantity for any orders to be delivered wherever deemed 

appropriate. All deliveries are made by our own transport. Approximate times and days of deliveries are available 

from St Austell Brewery or any of its depots. 

10. Warranty 

We warrant that on delivery our goods conform with their description and are of satisfactory quality (within 

the meaning of the Sale of Goods Act 1979). All other implied terms are, to the fullest extent permitted by law, 

excluded from the contract. 

11. Contract Terms 

These terms and conditions apply to the contract between you and us to the exclusion of any other terms that 

you seek to impose or incorporate, or which are implied by trade, custom, practice or course of dealing. 

An order constitutes an offer by you to purchase the goods in accordance with these conditions. 

You are responsible for ensuring that the terms of the order and any applicable specification are complete and 

accurate. 

An order will only be deemed to be accepted by us when we confirm acceptance, either verbally or in writing, at 

which point a contract will come into existence. A contract constitutes the entire agreement between you and us.

12. Stock Rotation and Returns 

It is your responsibility to rotate products so that the oldest is sold first. No credit will be given for out of 

date products nor will they be exchanged. No returns of WINES AND SPIRITS will be accepted other than in 

exceptional circumstances in which case authorisation from the brewery is required in advance. In the instances 

of BEER, CIDER AND MINERALS carrying an open date code, goods must be returned in complete packs, good 

condition and not of mixed dates and must have the major part of their available life to run. Guidance on this 

matter is readily available from us on request. We cannot guarantee credit on returns of other Brewer’s cask 

conditioned Ales and even where credit is given delays of up to 3 months should be expected. Cask conditioned 

Ales cannot be supplied on a sale or return basis. Returns of Draught Wine, Postmix Minerals and “Special 

Orders” will not be accepted. In the case of authorisation from St Austell Brewery being granted for the return of 

goods, due to overstocking, closing down or change of ownership we reserve the right to charge up to 20% of 

the value of the goods to cover costs of collection and administration. 

13. Exclusion of Liability 

St Austell Brewery Company Limited shall be under no liability whatsoever for loss or damage, death or personal 

injury howsoever arising other than for death or personal injury sustained by any person arising from the 

negligence of St Austell Brewery Company Limited or under the Consumer Protection Act 1987. 

14. Money Laundering 

For the protection of our customers, we operate a money laundering reporting procedure. In certain 

circumstances, information will be revealed by us to the appropriate authorities in relation to any suspicion of 

money laundering.
