throughout Florida over the year. A
total of 54 girls played in the Championship
tournament tour season, each
vying for Player of the Year. The Championship
Tour is the highest skill level of
the SFPGA tours.
When she learned she was named
the 2021 South Florida PGA Jr. Tour
Player of the Year, Gabriella said,
“There is no one emotion to describe
what I felt when hearing my name as
Player of the Year. I felt both happy and
relieved. It was a great feeling to see
that my years of hard work were paying
off.”
This past high school golf season,
Gabriella played a significant role in
helping her school’s golf team, finishng
in 4th place in the Florida High School
Athletic Association (FHSAA) State
Championships, firing a 69 (3-under
par) in her final round, and with a
stroke average of 75.
Gabriella attributes much of her success
to her parents, Dr. Greg and Laina
Albert, who have supported her and
been with her every step of the way.
“They are the people that I respect
most in this world. I look up to them
tremendously. They are the most honest
and hardworking people I know.”
Do Us Part...
ogel’s skill at sustaining the pre-
balanced mix of comedy
“Fcariously
and drama is impressive!” ~ Entertainment
Weekly
The Delray Beach Playhouse will
present actor/comedian Peter Fogel’s
multimedia solo show, ‘Til Death Do Us
Part… You First, for one performance
only, on Wednesday, February 23 at
12:30pm, as part of the theatre’s popular
“Lunch & Laffs” Cabaret Series.
Eternal Bachelor Peter Fogel has
significant commitment issues as the
love of his life has just broken up with
him on Valentine’s Day. Sensing his
own mortality, he is visited by a Special
Guest who mentors him on how he can
end all his romantic disasters and reconnect
with the one woman who can
change his life!
Directed by Academy Award nominee
and three-time Emmy Award-winner
Chazz Palminteri (A Bronx Tale), Fogel
employs his signature wit to bring to life
such relatable characters as Iranian Ex-
Girlfriend Elena, Magician & Ex-Fiancé
Jamie, High Maintenance Marla, his college
roommate “Uncle” Harold, plus his
Demented Father and Evil Step-Mom
Eva. They all have one goal – to continue
to stress him out about his unfilled
love life! “The longest relationship I’ve
had in my entire life is with Amazon’s
Alexa!” Fogel laments.
Just as Robert DeNiro discovered
Chazz Palminteri in his one-man show
A Bronx Tale, director Palminteri discovered
Peter’s one-man show during
a South Florida run. Excited about the
play’s potential – Palminteri immediately
offered to direct it.
Mentoring Host Site for 11- to 18-yearolds
who are directly involved with or
at-risk of entering the Juvenile Justice or
Dependency system, the organization announced.
The grant, which totals $110,000 per
year for up to three years, will greatly expand
and enhance Milagro Center’s existing
mentoring program to better serve at-risk
children and teens in the most economically
challenged neighborhoods of South Palm
Beach County, according to Barbara Stark,
President and CEO of Milagro Center.
According to “The Mentoring Effect,” a
national study conducted for The National
Mentoring Partnership, “The consistent,
enduring presence of a caring adult in a
young person’s life can be the difference
between staying in school or dropping out,
making healthy decisions or engaging in
risky behaviors, and realizing one’s potential
or failing to achieve one’s dreams.” The
problem is that a significant mentoring gap
exists – especially for at-risk youth. The
study reveals that more than one in three
young people — an estimated 16 million —
never had an adult mentor while they were
growing up.
“Studies show that when structured
mentoring is used as an intervention strategy,
young people are 81% more likely to
participate regularly in sports or extracurricular
activities, 78% more likely to volunteer
regularly in their communities, and
55% more likely to attend college,” Stark
pointed out.
The Mentoring Host Site (Hub) Program
launched on December 1, 2021 and will be
in full swing by the beginning of 2022.
POSH PROPERTIES
BY Hayley Peters
My name is Hayley Peters, and I am a realtor with Posh
Properties. I am proud to be a South Florida native, born
and raised right here in Boca Raton. In my free time you
can find me in the gym, running along the beach, traveling or
spending quality time with my 3-year-old Husky, Sola. I graduated
from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in Business
and Hospitality. After college I honed in on my sales and marketing
skills. My growing expertise in business relations sparked my interest
in pursuing a career in real estate. During the quarantine of 2020, I
committed to following my dream of becoming a full-time realtor. My
local connections, large personal sphere and passion to servicing my
community allows me to provide a premier service to all my clients.
Exceeding my clients expectations and getting them the best deal
possible is always my top priority. I look forward to showing the value I
can provide in either selling your current property or helping find your
next home. Give me a call if you are in the market for a new home or
for a complimentary market evaluation of your current home.
By Darien Davies
Delray Under $50
Most Fun Small Town, Most Crazy Small Town, Most Small Town that Feels
Like a Big Town. Delray has it all. With a bustling downtown, Pineapple
Grove area, and little nooks and crannies in between, there’s more
to do in Delray now than ever, with events and happenings
spanning from daytime to nighttime. While it can
seem expensive at times, there’s a great
opportunity to enjoy all the City has to offer
without breaking the bank. Here’s what you can
do in Delray Beach in February for $50 or less.
New year, new events to attend! February is Plant the Seeds
of Greatness Month and the Delray Beach CRA wants you
to mark your calendars for Crafted on the Ave. Crafted on
the Ave is a new open-aired craft market created to highlight local
Delray Beach small and micro-businesses that are merchants/
creators of handmade products, art, and other crafts and goods.
Crafted on the Ave is a way to increase exposure for crafters and
stimulate and reactivate business activity in the Historic Northwest/Southwest
Fifth Avenue Business District. It’s not just
business though, there is fun to be had, too! The market will be
a fun, family-friendly destination, where anyone can shop, stroll,
and enjoy the day. This event is held at Libby Wesley Plaza on
Saturday, February 5 from 1 to 4 pm, and visitors can expect
to enjoy handmade products, confections, art, jewelry, fashion,
soaps, skin care, etc. from local and regional creators. If you
haven’t ventured to the Plaza lately or are just in the mood
to check out some of our local art movers and shakers,
make sure to head on down. Libby Wesley Plaza is
located at 2 S.W. Fifth Ave. Visit www.delraycra.
as she has a meltdown on stage, questioning love, truth, and loyalty.
As her gossamer world falls away, she locks eyes with a stranger—a
face in the crowd. Kat chooses to marry Charlie. What begins as an
impulsive reaction evolves into an unexpected romance. Can two
and build a place where they both belong?

Beautiful Little Fools
by Jillian Cantor
Released February 1st
On a sultry August day in 1922, Jay Gatsby
is shot dead in his West Egg swimming
pool. To the police, it appears to be
an open-and-shut case of murder/suicide
when the body of George Wilson, a local
mechanic, is found in the woods nearby.
Then a diamond hairpin is discovered in
the bushes by the pool, and three women
fall under suspicion. Each holds a key that
can unlock the truth to the mysterious life
and death of this enigmatic millionaire.
Daisy Buchanan once thought she might
marry Gatsby—before her family was torn
apart by an unspeakable tragedy that sent
her into the arms of the philandering Tom
Buchanan.
Jordan Baker, Daisy’s best friend, guards
a secret that derailed her promising golf
career and threatens to ruin her friendship
with Daisy as well.
Catherine McCoy, a suffragette, fights
for women’s freedom and independence,
and especially for her sister, Myrtle Wilson,
who’s trapped in a terrible marriage.
Their stories unfold in the years leading
up to that fateful summer of 1922, when
all three of their lives are on the brink of
unraveling. Each woman is pulled deeper
into Jay Gatsby’s romantic obsession, with
devastating consequences for all of them.
Golden Girl
by Elin Hilderbrand
Released February 8th
In this #1 bestselling page-turner from
“the queen of beach reads” (New York
Magazine), a Nantucket novelist has one
final summer to protect her secrets while
her loved ones on earth learn to live without
their golden girl.
On a perfect June day, Vivian Howe, author
of thirteen beach novels and mother of three
nearly grown children, is killed in a hit-and-run
car accident while jogging near her home on
Nantucket. She ascends to the Beyond where
she’s assigned to a Person named Martha,
who allows Vivi to watch what happens below
for one last summer. Vivi also is granted three
“nudges” to change the outcome of events on
earth, and with her daughter Willa on her
third miscarriage, Carson partying until all
hours, and Leo currently “off again” with his
high-maintenance girlfriend, she’ll have to
think carefully where to use them.
From the Beyond, Vivi watches “The
Chief” Ed Kapenash investigate her death,
but her greatest worry is her final book,
which contains a secret from her own youth
that could be disastrous for her reputation.
But when hidden truths come to light, Vivi’s
family will have to sort out their past and
present mistakes—with or without a nudge
of help from above—while Vivi finally lets
them grow without her.
The Magnificent
Lives of Marjorie Post
by Allison Pataki
Released February 15th
Marjorie’s journey began gluing cereal
boxes in her father’s barn as a young
girl. No one could have predicted that C. W.
Post’s Cereal Company would grow into
the General Foods empire and reshape the
American way of life, with Marjorie as its
heiress and leading lady. Not content to
stay in her prescribed roles of high-society
wife, mother, and hostess, Marjorie dared
to demand more, making history in the
process. Before turning thirty she amassed
millions, becoming the wealthiest woman
in the United States. But it was her lifeforce,
advocacy, passion, and adventurous
spirit that led to her stunning legacy.
And yet Marjorie’s story, though full of
beauty and grandeur, set in the palatial homes
she built such as Mar-a-Lago, was equally
marked by challenge and tumult. A wife four
times over, Marjorie sought her happily-everafter
with the blue-blooded party boy who
could not outrun his demons, the charismatic
financier whose charm turned to betrayal, the
international diplomat with a dark side, and
the bon vivant whose shocking secrets would
shake Marjorie and all of society. Marjorie did
everything on a grand scale, especially when
it came to love.
The Last Night in London
by Karen White
Released February 15th
New York Times bestselling author Karen White
weaves a captivating story of friendship, love, and
betrayal that moves between war-torn London during
the Blitz and the present day.
London, 1939. Beautiful and ambitious Eva Harlow
and her American best friend, Precious Dubose, are
trying to make their way as fashion models. When Eva
falls in love with Graham St. John, an aristocrat and
Royal Air Force pilot, she can’t believe her luck—she’s
getting everything she ever wanted. Then the Blitz
devastates her world, and Eva finds herself slipping
into a web of intrigue, spies, and secrets. As Eva
struggles to protect her friendship with Precious and
everything she holds dear, all it takes is one unwary
moment to change their lives forever…
London, 2019. American journalist Maddie Warner,
whose life has been marked by the tragic loss of her
mother, travels to London to interview Precious
about her life in pre-WWII London. Maddie has been
careful to close herself off to others, but in Precious
she recognizes someone whose grief rivals her own—
but unlike Maddie, Precious hasn’t allowed it to crush
her. Maddie finds herself drawn to both Precious and
to Colin, her enigmatic surrogate nephew. As Maddie
gets closer to her, she begins to unravel Precious’s
haunting past—a story of friendship, betrayal, and the
unremembered acts of kindness and of love.
The Harbor
by Katrine Engberg
Released February 22nd
From the #1 internationally bestselling author of
The Butterfly House, called “brazen and original”
by The Toronto Star, comes a timely, suspenseful, and
darkly original new novel about a missing child and
the web of lies that has threatened his life—and may
prevent him from ever being found.
When fifteen-year-old Oscar Dreyer-Hoff
disappears, the police assume he’s simply a
runaway—a typically overlooked middle child
doing what teenagers do all around the world. But
his frantic family is certain that something terrible
COPYRIGHTED
has happened. After all, what runaway would leave
behind a note that reads:
He looked around and saw the knife that had stabbed
Basil Hallward. He had cleaned it many times, till there
was no stain left upon it. It was bright and glistened. As
it had killed the painter, so it would kill the painter’s
work, and all that that meant. It would kill the past, and
when that was dead, he would be free.
It’s not much to go on but it’s all that detectives
Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner have. And with every
passing hour, as the odds of finding a missing person
grow dimmer, it will have to be enough.
Who Holds You Accountable?
This week the CDC has come out to say that the majority (75%)
of deaths caused by coronavirus were with people who had 4
or more comorbidities. The top four comorbidities are obesity,
diabetes, age, and heart disease. So my question is simply
this: who holds you accountable for your health? For your
actions? For your diet? For your exercise? The answer is you!
You are the only one that can be held accountable for your
health. No one else, just you! You are a product of what you
put into your body and what you get out of it through exercise.
The number one comorbidity that affects people during COV-
ID-19 as well as with other health conditions is obesity. From what
I have read and gathered, obesity can be equated to anyone with a
Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30% or greater.
Does being overweight have a negative effect on our health outcomes
and our ability for our immune system to function optimally
and help heal and protect us? The short answer is yes. Body
mass has a tremendous effect on our overall health - not just with
COVID-19.
Let us discuss the effect of obesity on the heart. When your BMI
shifts from the ‘normal’ category to the ‘overweight’ category,
your risk of death goes up 10%. When you go from ‘overweight’
to the ‘obese’ category the risk of death rises to 30% (Cleveland
Clinic). So again, are you holding yourself accountable? Why are
we waiting for someone to tell us to be healthy when we know
deep down that we should be?
To incorporate the other comorbidities, increased weight is
typically correlated to higher blood sugars and associated with
Type 2 Diabetes. Increased weight makes our heart work harder
to circulate blood through our system. These compounding factors
all can be changed with diet and exercise.
Here are some simple tips I discuss with patients and have listed
on a white board in my office:
• BREATHE - Have a good breathing practice. Practice Diaphragmatic
Breathing (research it)
• WATER - Drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces.
i.e., 100 lbs =50 oz of water (unless you have a condition where
you cannot)
• EAT - Three healthy meals per day with proper supplementation
of vitamins and minerals
• MOVE - Get out and exercise 45 minutes to an hour a day to
increase cardiac function
• SLEEP - 6-8 hours of sleep per day will help your body recover
and regenerate
If you practice these five tips daily, you will see a tremendous
change in not only your weight, but your energy levels. We as a
whole need to get over the notion that the so-called experts can
tell us what to do and what the bare minimal requirements to get
We are glad to help you! Find a personal trainer, join a gym, start
yoga, play more golf, get out and move! Take control and be accountable.
Plateau Breaking
Are you struggling to see results or feel you have hit a plateau?
This is the article for you! There is nothing more frustrating than
thinking you are doing all the right things, but the results just are
not happening. Often, it is usually something simple. Here are
some different aspects to consider before throwing in the towel!
The first thing I review when progress has stalled is nutrition.
You can workout till the cows come home but
1
if your nutrition is not on-point you can forget about seeing
results. This is where a detailed food-log is helpful.
Begin by writing down in a book or in an app everything
you consume, and the times you are eating. The
good, the bad and the ugly! This is will be very helpful
to a professional in finding the areas that need improvement!
A food-log will also keep you honest
and aware of what you are eating!
If body fat percentage is not going down,
2 and you are doing all the right things
nutrition wise, try this: Take a good look at
your workout! Your body adapts to the same
type of exercise over time. As your body gets
used to a certain type of exercise and/or
resistance load - it becomes less challenging,
and as a result - less effective.
That’s why it’s so important to push
yourself, especially with weights. If
you are not constantly being challenged
your results will ultimately
slow down. Pick up a heavier weight
than you have been using, sprint a
little faster, do extra reps. Push is the
key word to seeing results.
Now – you have been working out
36-7 days per week, eating right and
still not seeing results? Have you considered
that maybe you are working out too
much? Sometimes the body responds better
to rest. Over-training could be hindering
results just as much as under-training could.
When your body is under too much stress, it responds
negatively. A stressed body will raise cortisol
levels which will cause your body to store
fat! The absolute opposite of what you expect
from training hard! Another thing to think
about is quality over quantity. Working out
every day is great, but are they quality workouts?
Less is more in this case.
50 | february 2022 | www.AtlanticAveMagazine.com
Look at your water intake. It is such a
4 simple component that people forget.
Many clients think they drink enough water
but in reality, they are not. Water is an essential
part of calorie burning and it helps
flush out any excess sodium and fluid
you may be retaining. If your body is
dehydrated, it will not burn fat efficiently!
Aim to consume no less
than one half gallon of water per
day, 64 ounces. However, 1 gallon
(128 ounces) per day is optimal for
fat burning and it also helps suppress
your appetite...a nice bonus!
Speaking of water intake lets talk
about your sodium intake. If you
ingest foods with high amounts of
sodium, stop. Your body will always
have a “fluffy” look and the scale
will not be your friend. Eliminate
processed foods and use only saltfree
seasonings and spices when
cooking.
If you have tried all the above
and are still having a difficult time
losing weight, the next step is to
examine what is going on inside
your body. It could be anything
from a hormone imbalance to
thyroid issues. Do not immediately
assume this is the problem but
if you have truly tried everything
else, it might be worth exploring
your concerns with a medical professional
who can help get to the
root of your issues.
Mason Pace
How were you spending your free time at 20-years-old?
Probably not exhibiting your talents throughout
Florida as the lead singer of your self-titled band.
But for Mason Pace, that’s precisely how he exists.
COPYRIGHTED

Living just outside the musical mainstream, resides a Generation
Z prodigy with uncommon talent. Mason may be young
in age, but his music reflects that of a much more experienced
musician, which may be attributed to the fact he has been working
with a full band for the past eight years.
“Music came easy to me early on in life and really was where I found
my light. My first guitar teacher Eric Hansen, was an integral part in
my realizing this career was destined for me. I was only around seven
or eight when Hansen was training me classically, and discovered I had
perfect pitch. A guitar string was ever-so-slightly mistuned, and I was
able to pick up on that. Eric was shocked I could discern the sound
quality and tested other notes, to which I recognized all of them. From
then on, it was clear I was meant to pursue this world.”
The making of the Mason Pace Band continued on as a family affair,
with musical inspiration already spawning from his parents, who initially
introduced Mason to the famous sounds of Led Zeppelin, Van Halen
and Black Sabbath.
“My first concert ever was Robert Plant, followed by Aerosmith, and
Ozzy Osbourne. A few years later, as I was performing all different types
of music, I noticed myself leaning more towards the particular style of
my influencers.”
Transcending generations, Pace’s alternative rock music is enchanting...
brimming with engaging riffs and relatable stories. For those who
yearn for the sound reminiscent of when adolescents simply lived in
the moment, tracks such as Reborn and The Road will have you hooked.
Pace looks forward to retaining his signature style as well as adding
elements to his future endeavors.
“My dream collaboration would be with Primus, Volbeat, or Gojira.
They’re heavier bands, but I could see my sound moving in that direction.”
In an era dominated by make it big quick television shows, Mason
assembled his crew the old-fashioned way, through chance meetings
and advertisements. Pace holds not only the title of vocalist, but also
lead guitarist.
Displaying his instrumental talents in Tennessee at Summer NAMM,
(National Association of Music Merchants), Mason cemented his working
rapport with Gibson, one of the world’s best known guitar manufacturers.
Shortly after this performance he was offered an endorsement
to join the legacy, to which he instantly accepted.
“In 2019, I was asked by Gibson to attend an industry convention
and showcase the new g-series acoustic guitar. I first played in Nashville,
Tennessee on a Gibson sponsored stage, then executed my skills
at their main booth during the music conference. Upon returning home
to Florida, I visited the Miami showroom further establishing a professional
relationship. The entire experience culminated in the company
lending me a Gibson SG. Even before this happened I would exclusively
utilize Gibson guitars... the sound they release fills the entire room. Specifically
the Les Paul tone... it’s magnificent and rocks to capacity.”
Pace released his first EP, Whateverland, in 2018, followed up by
his sophomore album entitled King of Hearts in August 2021. Whereas
his first attempt was self-created, the follow-up was recorded and
produced by legendary guitarist Brent Woods, currently playing with
Sebastian Bach.
“King of Hearts I’m super proud of because my music is finally now
shaping into what I want it to sound like. The songs were recorded in
Los Angeles during this industry’s downtime.”
Growing up in South Florida, Mason was personally affected by the
tragedy that struck Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when national
front page news occurred in our local backyard. Wanting to use
his platform for good, in ten days he methodically structured a benefit
in order to raise money for the Stoneman Victim’s Survivor Fund. Held
at Spanish River Church and with support from Def Leppard’s drummer
Rick Allen, Mason donated all procured profits to the trust, highlighting
this rising star’s character. From his captivating lyrics to the
harmonious melodies, Pace relies on real life instances to construct his
music, and can find a creative burst at any time day or night.
“The songs you see that are released just appear to me, and it’s the
easiest way to design. When you try to force a song you can easily tell
that it’s not a natural process. I don’t pressure myself to create... writing
on a whim of inspiration, you may find me sitting at the piano at three
in the morning assembling different conceptions into my next single.”
Mason has already had the opportunity to perform on the same stage
as some of the biggest names in the business at Rockfest 80’s in 2017.
“I entered into an all ages Battle of the Bands for the opening day
first spot at a festival in Pembroke Pines. My band earned the coveted
time slot, and that day we opened for epic performers such as Joan Jett,
Cheap Trick, and Dokken.”
Even with his musical success, Pace still finds time to further his education,
and is currently studying to achieve a degree in marketing at
Florida Atlantic University.
“When the lockdown started, all our classes moved online, which
actually has made it easier for me to progress at my own speed. I’ve
been able to balance both music and school, while shaping my current
image and tour towards the direction where I can truly develop into
the artist I envision.”
Proficient and motivated, Mason proves no matter what stage of life
you’re in, it’s never too early or late to go after a dream... and find your
own perfect pitch.
**Visit Masonpacemusic.com for tour dates, purchase merchandise,
and sample tracks. Pace’s next scheduled local performance is on February
28, 2022 at Margaritaville in Hollywood.
A Family Law Attorney
that Cares and Gets Results
By Nicol Jenkins | photos by melissa korman
Unmarried Fathers don’t
automatically have
rights to their child!
you know that when a child is born out of wedlock, the
biological father has no legal rights to the child?”
“Did
According to local matrimonial and family law attorney
Cynthia M. Pyfrom, P.A., unmarried fathers don’t automatically have
rights to their child.
“The mother of a child born out of wedlock is the natural guardian of
the child and is entitled to primary residential care and custody of the
child unless the court enters an order stating otherwise,” said Pyfrom.
What does this mean?
“Even if you, the father, are on your child’s birth certificate, that does
not give you legal rights to have timesharing with your child or make
58 | February 2022 | www.AtlanticAveMagazine.com
decisions for your child. Pursuant to the Florida Statutes, the mother has
those rights when a child is born out of wedlock. When this situation
presents itself, the mother has to agree to give the father timesharing.
Further, fathers do not have any legal rights to make decisions concerning
the child’s education, healthcare, or other major decisions in the child’s
life, unless the mother allows the father to participate,” said Pyfrom.
“Time and time again, parents of a child born out of wedlock tend
to get along for a certain period of time, which results in dad being
‘allowed’ to spend time with the child and be a part of the child’s life.
However, when that relationship between the parents falls apart for
whatever reason, the mother sometimes refuses to allow the father to
see the child, or participate in the parenting of that child, anymore. This
is not only traumatic to the child, but also heartbreaking to an involved
father,” added Pyfrom.
What can fathers in this situation do about it? The father has to file
a Paternity action in the appropriate court to establish his rights by a
court order. In Florida, a Parenting Plan is required, which outlines all
rights and obligations of each parent to their child. Once the Parenting
Plan is approved and entered by the court, the father has just as many
rights to that child as the mother does.
“If you find yourself in this situation, it is recommended to address
your rights early on instead of waiting for an emergency situation to occur.
If the mother of your child decides she wants to move out of State,
or somewhere else in Florida, she has every right to do so without your
permission because she is the primary residential custodian of the
child until a court enters an order stating otherwise. Do not wait until
it is too late. Establish your paternity rights early,” continued Pyfrom.
“As a side note, if two parties have a child out of wedlock and then get
married, according to Florida Statutes, if the mother of any child born
out of wedlock and the reputed father shall at any time after its birth
intermarry, the child shall in all respects be deemed and held to be the
child of the husband and wife, as though born within wedlock.”
Cynthia M. Pyfrom will fight for her clients when it comes to matters
of matrimonial and family law.
Her law firm, Cynthia M. Pyfrom, P.A. was founded in January of 2014
times be a financial burden on the parties involved, Cynthia M. Pyfrom,
P.A. provides competitive rates along with reasonable retainer fees.
The attorney believes her practice is unique because of her extensive
legal background and her personal experiences in life, which give her a
distinctive empathetic perspective. Cynthia specializes in personalized
attention to each of her clients. She is easily accessible to answer her
client’s questions regarding their case, and she deals with clients on a
one-on-one basis.
Pyfrom thinks her firm has been so successful because of the small
boutique service. The office also has a dedicated staff and an Associate
Attorney, Francesca Vigna, Esq., to help assist in providing high-quality
legal services to the clients.
“I am doing this job to help people and money is secondary. I really
do care about my clients and want to help them through everything
that comes along with a divorce. Divorce can be a very stressful time
and you want an attorney who cares about you and your concerns in
order to help get you through it as painless as possible,” she said.
Her clients praise Cynthia and her staff for helping them through a
difficult time in their life.
“A kind word never goes unheard, but too often goes unsaid. Cynthia’s
knowledge of marital law is so extensive I had to comment on
how impressive she is. She doesn’t pull punches. She analyzed my situation
and told me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted to hear. This
clarity was not only helpful from a legal standpoint but for emotional
well-being, too. Her sincerity was greatly appreciated. Having Cynthia
guide me through my situation made it easier to sleep at night. She is
passionate about her work, and she provided me with a strategic plan.
I am very grateful for her counsel,” stated a potential client who consulted
with this attorney.
“I was referred to Cynthia by my attorney after he thought it was best
if he turned the case over to someone in Palm Beach County. Cynthia
was fabulous! She was relentless is the pursuit of justice and never
backed down to the larger firm we were fighting. She always followed
up and followed through with every tidbit of information. And by the
way, we won!! I would highly recommend Cynthia M. Pyfrom for any
legal needs you may have,” stated another client.
Cynthia M. Pyfrom is always available to answer your legal questions.
Allyson Sullivan
Real Estate Excellence
By Diane Feen | photos by melissa korman
Allyson Sullivan knows that
to whom much is given much
is expected (and required).
That is why the 20-year real estate professional has made the
past year one of giving back to the community that she loves.
“As a Realtor in Delray (and Palm Beach County) I feel it
is important to give back, and be involved in the local community,”
said the Lang Realtor.
Sullivan’s philanthropy started with Lang Realty at the beginning
of COVID. Allyson and a group of Lang agents donated food and
money at Trinity Lutheran church, where the grass roots organization
“Eat Local Supper Club” helped restaurant workers (and others)
affected by the pandemic.
During the holidays Sullivan, and other Lang realtors, reached
out to local families in need through the company’s Lang Cares
community outreach program. Forty families in Palm Beach County
were adopted and their wishes for the holidays were fulfilled by
agents. “We donated food, and helped a single mom battling cancer
and her son. We got him fishing gear so he could enjoy a new hobby.
We also got the family the gifts they wanted and connected the boy
with a local fishing lure company, who donated fishing gear to him.”
Sullivan also took part in The American Cancer Society fundraiser,
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. She ran three miles,
starting at the Myer Amphitheater in West Palm Beach. She also
donated a portion of her commission for Breast Cancer Awareness
month last October.
62 | February 2022 | www.AtlanticAveMagazine.com
Sullivan also participated in the first annual “Pooches & Presents
in the Park” event at Old School Square in November. “We had a
vendor table and supported this new event by donating items for
pooches and their owners.”
When not doing good for the community Sullivan is working hard
to maintain her stellar reputation. Just last year she sold $25 million
in real estate. Sullivan is a pro when it comes to getting the maximum
sale price for the seller and finding the perfect house for buyers.
He clients can attest to that.
“Allyson sold a house down the street in record breaking time.
We met with Allyson and the experience was amazing. She quickly
developed a target price, put together a marketing plan and aggressively
promoted the home. She is driven, focused, professional
and dedicated to meeting customers’ needs. She is the best realtor
we’ve ever met,” said Ed and Tracy Jansen.
Sullivan has been selling real estate for the past 20 years and has
risen to meet each challenge. Currently there is a lack of inventory
in the area, but to Sullivan each challenge is a chance to shine.
“I have been able to overcome the problematic inventory crisis
by finding off-market opportunities or utilizing creative methods
to assist my buyers in finding the perfect home. I have also worked
hard (and smart) to tackle the ‘multiple offer scenario.’”
COPYRIGHTED

Sullivan has also devised ways to get her sellers the highest price
for their property by developing what she calls, “a winning strategy
when representing buyers.”
To capture the market’s most valuable assets she does extensive
marketing in magazines and direct mail. She also has spent a lot of
time and energy on video and social media. In her videos, Sullivan’s
clients are explicit about Sullivan’s expertise, patience, professionalism
and expertise.
The videos are just one piece of the large marketing puzzle that
highlights Sullivan’s real estate prowess
Ruth Levy, who recently bought a home from Sullivan, is outspoken
about her excellence and tireless work ethic.
“Allyson Sullivan is a professional who seeks to understand her
client’ needs and matches them with the perfect home in the perfect
community. She works tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition
whether it be the closing, the move, or settling in after the closing!”
Sullivan does all this on her own. “I give a personal approach to
every transaction. I am there from start to finish, and no detail is
ever overlooked. I have been in the area for 20 years and have secured
some great listings.”
And what a year it’s been for this dedicated real estate pro. “This
has been a banner year for real estate. I’m not surprised that the
South Florida lifestyle has drawn so many people to leave the colder
climates and move here.”
Sullivan is the first to admit that these are precarious times in
our country but she always tries to bring out the best in her career
and in her clients.
“I was able bring sunshine to numerous out of state clients and
many locals. 2022 will be my 20th year in the business - I am looking
forward to another banner year worthy of celebrating!”
So are her clients.
Cheran Marek
Award Winning Top Producer
By diane feen | photos by EMILIANO BROOKS
Cheran Marek is quietly making large strides in the local real estate
market. She came to the Delray Beach over 20 years ago and fell in love
with this charming and understatedly elegant “Village by the Sea.”
Marek began selling real estate at the age of 22, under the
wing of her mother, Sue Tauriello, which is a true Real Estate
matriarch.
Cheran started with J. C. DeNiro International Realty, Inc., then
Tauriello & Company Real Estate opened doors, which was owned
by her family, after 18 years the company was acquired by Douglas
Elliman. Cheran has been with Elliman now five years.
So, it comes as no surprise that real estate expertise runs in
Marek’s DNA. She has an excellent track record in selling new luxury
construction and has to date sold out the “Eden Ridge” development.
Since 2005 Cheran has focused on new development sales
and has represented several projects.
The mother of two sons, Cheran resides in the Delray area along
with her husband and enjoys a very balanced lifestyle. Her hobbies
include, surfing, biking, skiing, and yoga.
“I have a one-step ahead approach- always prepared for the next
thing to come up in a transaction. You only get that confidence with
experience. There are hundreds of tasks and thinking ahead is crucial.
Stellar customer service (and seasoned advice) allows an overall
advantage in this fast-paced market.”
The proof of her integrity and knowledge is apparent in the
awards she has achieved. She was the 2018 Gold award recipient
(the top 8% of Douglas Elliman realtors) and in 2019 and 2020 the
“Presidents Circle” award recipient.
Marek serves as a board member of the Historic Preservation
Trust. She recently sold a historic 1925 Mediterranean Revival
home that was moved from West Palm Beach to Delray Beach via
the Intracoastal. The house – that ended up on Swinton Avenue –
was sold for $1.495 million. Cheran is a huge proponent of preserving
‘old Delray Beach’ since she has roots here from the mid 90s.
Marek has a strong belief that the Delray market will continue to
be steady. “The weather, the taxes and our government are driving
the real estate boom here. Delray will continue to be the ‘Village by
the Sea’ with its great restaurants, city owned pristine beaches and
the small-town feel. Delray is a very special place.”
Marek has seen the town of Delray grow up, so to speak, but she
is not worried about its booming international presence. “Delray
has very controlled new development guidelines. I have had good
insight into how much the local people care about the future of our
city. I am proud to be a part of the historic preservation movement,
it is so incredibly important and it is why most love Delray.”
COPYRIGHTED
66 | February 2022 | www.AtlanticAveMagazine.com

Marek has an extensive network of clientele and a good rapport
with the area real estate agents. That gives her a competitive edge
that is not easily earned. Cheran’s reputation alone as a prominent
agent in Delray Beach speaks volumes when she is working for you.
“I provide my clients with the highest level of service and treat every
transaction as my first priority. I also enjoy getting to know my clients
and assisting them to make their real estate dreams become a reality.”
She certainly does. “I’ve bought and sold over 10 properties in
south Florida and Cheran is at the top of the list! Her local knowledge
and negotiating ability are amazing. She sold our home the
first week for more than we needed and made a smooth transition.
This is the agent you need and want. Trust me,” said one client.
There are dozens of stellar reviews online that attest to the fact
that Marek is the real deal. Words float around the internet that
describe her as professional, knowledgeable, responsive, sharp,
dedicated, unparalleled, and brilliant.
Marek specializes in Downtown Delray Beach, New Construction,
Historic Delray, Lake Ida, Lake Eden, and waterfront property.
“I have had experience working with some of the same properties
more than once throughout the years, this insight gives buyers and
sellers a superiority in their transaction. More information, more
power for a successful deal.”
Marek has creative and Innovative insights into marketing, as
well as a firm belief that “quality take precedence over quantity.”
This makes Marek an important player in Delray real estate, and
her wealth of knowledge has made her a sought-after agent in the
luxury real estate market.
She also has the brand of Douglas Elliman behind her. “Douglas Elliman
offers tools and systems that rival other Real Estate companies.
The marketing, the networking, and leadership is, to say the least, the
best. I am thankful to work with such an industry leading company.”
Axis Integrated Health and Human PerFOrmance Coach
A Happy Healthier You
By diane feen | photos by Melissa korman
Mike Gallagher was 14-years-old when he started
going to the gym with his father. He began working out
and soon was helping the owner with small chores.
68 | February 2022 | www.AtlanticAveMagazine.com
owner of the gym liked me and so did the members. It
was such a positive experience that the gym became my
“The
sanctuary. I knew that this was where I wanted to be.”
So that is exactly what he did. He started lifting weights, taking
part in body-building competitions and learned the intricacies of
health and wellness.
He also got a business degree and a Bachelors of Degree in Sports
Management from St. John’s University. Gallagher also became a BioForce
Certified Conditioning Coach, a USAW Sports Performance
Coach, Pre and Post Natal coach, and did Internships at EXOS and
the Institute of Motion.
That set the stage for the trajectory of Gallagher’s career and
life. He worked as a manager at eight different Equinox Clubs –
in cities such as Manhattan, Westchester, Washington DC and beyond.
He was also an Equinox Tier X Coach.
After years of working in the fitness arena for other people Gallagher
culled his expertise in health and wellness and created Axis
Integrated Health. His formal title is Human Performance Coach,
which encompasses strength training, cardiovascular and nutrition
coaching, injury recovery and personal development.
“By combining the medical and fitness side of the health spectrum
we provide the resources to make you the best version of yourself.
We let you decide your goals and then help you attain them.”
One client did just that.
“Michael started me on a training program to improve my
strength and stamina. After an injury he modified my exercises
to conform to the Orthopedist recommendations. During COVID I
worked with Michael via FaceTime and home visits. He has a knack
of working with any condition and finding a way to help clients like
me (in my 60’s). I highly recommend him as a personal trainer for
all ages and those with injuries.”
Gallagher works with clients of all ages privately – and has even
gone to assisted living facilities to help seniors gain motion and
momentum, regardless of their injury. His mojo is his method,
which was honed by years of experience working with the human
body and mind.
He also provides holistic solutions for optimal health and wellness,
and maximize your performance in life or sports “If your
goal is not to be out of breath when you pick up your kids, or
have a stronger golf swing I can help you. We can get help you get
stronger and more flexible to meet the challenges in your life or
your leisure activities.”
Gallagher does this by customizing metabolic testing assessments,
getting clients blood tests, a dietician or appropriate doctors
necessary.
“We provide resources for clients so they can lose weight, have
more energy or and just feel better in their daily lives. I also have
an elevated approach to personal training. We also look at muscle,
bone fat, asymmetry, blood pressure and lung functioning.”
They offer in-person as well as virtual health and human performance
coaching programs. Gallagher goes above and beyond for
clients, and is driven by a committed work ethic and helpful approach
for each client.
Client Steve is proof of his devotion to clients well-being. “I am
COPYRIGHTED

64-year-old and feel great. It is largely due to Michael Gallagher. I
was in my early sixties, overweight and did not exercise regularly.
My wife worked with Michael and encouraged me to do the same.”
“Michael slowly worked with me and it changed my life. I am
feeling much better about myself, and I’m able to do more. I lost 20
pounds and no longer get winded rallying in tennis with our son. I
wouldn’t be saying this if it weren’t for Michael’s attention and help.”
According to clients, Gallagher explains how to do the exercises,
what muscles to use and is knowledgeable about how the body
works. “He explains what each exercise accomplishes and is encouraging
without being annoying. He is always on time (important
to me since I train before work), yet flexible enough to find alternate
times when I have to change the schedule. He has helped guide
me to a better me, and for that I am grateful,” said Steve.
If you prefer in-home personal training or coaching Gallagher
will bring all the equipment or tools needed. He also brings a high
level of patience, dedication and passion.
Gallagher believes everyone has an A-game, and can access it
excellent results in their health and well-being with his progressive
health and human performance coaching programs.
It did for Tendrich.
As a young woman she weighed in at 205 pounds. She had high cholesterol
and other health issues but didn’t worry about her physical frame.
“I was obese but I was happy.”
But Tendrich discovered that happiness has many layers and she had
only scratched the surface. “I used to drink a lot of Coca Cola and ate unhealthy
food. I worked at a dental office and everyone tried to get me to
diet and exercise.”
“I told them I would exercise and eat healthy for 30 days so I could
prove how much I hated it.”
But that didn’t happen. Quite to the contrary, this lifestyle change had
the opposite effect on her. “I fell in love with clean eating and working out
at the gym. I not only found a new level of happy, but I was able to help
my daughter Amira.”
Amira was borderline ADHD, had sinus problems, rashes, and stomach
aches. But after applying the principles of EBLB with proper nutrition,
her symptoms disappeared.
That was Tendrich’s lightbulb moment. It was also the beginning of
a crusade that she heralds to this day. She helps (and educates) schools
and communities about the benefits of healthy eating. Her programs and
insights help people combat childhood obesity and dietary-related illnesses
by providing nutritional programs and healthy food guidance to
children and families.
Tendrich doesn’t just talk about healthy eating – she takes command
of the community stage and delivers.
Since the inception of EBLB (in 2014) Tendrich has dedicated her time
to volunteering at schools and providing community outreach and services.
She’s worked with over 10,000 young people and taught them how
to Eat Better to Live Better.
When the COVID pandemic began she developed the Grocery Assistance
Program. They’ve distributed 1,000,000 pounds of healthy groceries
and fresh produce to families in need.
Since the pandemic reared its head, the prototypical food insecure
person has changed. “A lot of people who never needed help before now
need help. They often feel embarrassed, but we make it simple for families
to get assistance. We feed with dignity.”
Referrals come from everywhere – word of mouth, organizations
and schools. The food can be delivered, or people can pick it up at their
Delray office.
Tendrich has volunteers, but is quick on her feet when she gets a call
from a young person who wants to help. “I am in my car now picking
up a student who wants to go with me to deliver food. I move a million
miles a minute.”
She sure does.
Tendrich donated over 600 backpacks and school supplies to Palm
Beach County Schools. She volunteers for Career Days, helps organize
anti-bullying pep rallies, speaks to students and teachers about fitness
and nutrition, and shares her program that helps children and families
live a healthy lifestyle.
She also started a “Teachers Giving Program” that gives out free turkeys
to teachers, families and support staff. “We work with Title 1 schools
and surprise them with turkeys a week before thanksgiving. We started
out giving turkeys to five schools and last year we gave out 1,300.”
To one recipient it was a gift from heaven. “I saw tears flowing down
a man’s face when he received his turkey this Thanksgiving. He did not
expect it - it was a surprise,” said C. Ron of KOP Mentoring Network.
Though EBLB is making a huge difference in the lives of recipients and
volunteers, the organization has humble roots. “I started with $15 in my
bank account. I was doing personal training at the time and one of my
clients made a donation.”
Tendrich also joined the Boca and Delray Chamber of Commerce and
created awareness and fundraising with projects such as a 5K run and
networking events. She also got 501 (c)(3) status.
But it’s not status that propels this woman to create wonder amidst
the forest. She sits on the Advisory Board for the FAU School of Social
Work and is an executive board member for the Palm Beach County
Crime Prevention Officers Association (PBCCPOA).
The PBCCPOA is where Tendrich gets to share her passion for helping
others and her intuitive brilliance. She also brings a fresh perspective
on crime prevention.
“People don’t realize nutrition can help prevent crime. Food insecure
communities have a 12% higher crime rate and obese youngsters are
more likely to drop out of school.”
The subject of food insecurity is one that is near and dear to Tendrich’s
heart. “Debra saw a need for education about healthy nutrition and didn’t
sit on the sidelines and ask why? She rolled up her sleeves and dove in to
do her part,” adds C. Ron.
Tendrich is on the Hunger Relief and Nutrition Education Committees
with the United Way PBC and the Delray Beach Initiative to End Homelessness
Task Force. She also hosts nutrition workshops at FAU.
EBLB won the Non-Profit of the Year Award from the Delray Beach
Chamber and Tendrich received the Healthcare Advocate of the Year
Award from the Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber.
But it was running for Delray Beach City Commission that inspired her
to go to college for political science and law. “I feel I can be more effective
in the community if I can play a larger role creating policy to improve the
quality of life for everyone.”
Everyone agrees that Tendrich has a heart of gold and is passionate
and caring about giving back to the community.
But what they may not know is that her intentions are divinely ordained.
“When I hear about something and it feels right, I see if there’s
something I can do; if not now, when?”
misc | ask the petxpert
BY Bill Piechocki and Dr. Diane Sudduth, DVM
What Do We Know About Food?
Face it, what do you really know about food for you, your pets,
and your family? How much do you know about choosing the
best foods for your pet or for that matter, even for yourselves?
Is it vegan, vegetarian, Keto, Atkins or Nutri-whatever?
Let’s go back to primitive times when both humans and their carnivore
pets hunted and achieved all of their nutrition in the wild.
First and foremost, it was always seasonal. Seasonal prey was available
in the fall or spring. In the north, we fish for trout and other
fish in in the spring when the weather gets warm. In nature, specific
foods are only available in “season.” This means that younger prey is
only available after the birthing season. This younger prey provides
totally different nutrient profiles to the meal than mature prey.
Did you ever notice that in winter you eat more soup, broth, pasta,
and so-called “heavier meals” and in summer you want lighter
meals like salad, fresh vegetables, fruits, berries and local favorites?
Did you ever think that your pets need a change that reflects
the seasonality of the foods they need? Do you believe that those
packaged pet foods provide any real variety?
The purpose of food is to provide all life with nutrients to sustain
itself. In nature, life instinctively exists where the foods and nutrients
it requires are present. With our technology and intellect, we have
altered this life force giving natural system, thus creating dysregulation
for functionality. Our monoculture industrial food production
is designed to produce profit, not optimal life. Our foods are often
grown, whether it be plant or animal based are now far from local
and native. Many times, grazing livestock such as sheep and cattle
are raised in concentrated feeding operations because providers can
grow high yield, low nutrient, more economical corn and soy in a
concentrated area instead of high value native and natural forage.
This dysregulation of a food growing, and mass production system
has caused our environment to become highly contaminated and also
deplete the natural nutrients that life needs to optimize existence.
As a result, we must rely on extra supplementation for life to exist.
Our soil must be fertilized with every new crop season, sprayed with
chemicals to stave off pests that will attach to these unhealthy crops.
Upon that we must then supplement our livestock as the foods we
have grown for them is devoid of the nutrients needed to sustain life.
Now we come to ourselves and our pets. The bulk of the foods
our family and pets eat are highly processed. Much of this processing
destroys the few remaining natural nutrients in these foods and
thus more supplements are required for food consumption in order
to provide some kind of nutritional benefit. These supplements are
added into the processing to make us believe that they are superior
to natural. We are also programmed with the need to take additional
supplements to remain healthy. Unfortunately, most of these methods
and products are compromising, artificial and just unnatural.
The past few years have opened our eyes that this system is not
producing optimal health. Our diets are the starting point for our
pets and ourselves to achieve a better quality of life. By consuming
healthy. local clean and fresh naturally sourced food we will all
have a chance to prevail. When optimal nutrition is provided to fuel
life, health challenges can be avoided and prevented.
