PortEverglades continues to set new records for cargooffloads and is expanding its offerings for cruises.The increase in cargo is due to the new Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes, and upcoming dredgingthat will further increase capacity by allowing largervessels to call on our port. Cruises are also on theupswing even with the current environment. Withofferings from all the major cruise lines, and theaddition of Disney Cruise Lines, Port Everglades isready to sail into this year and make its mark.Broward County is working towards making sureevery resident that needs a COVID-19 test can getone. In partnership with the State of Florida, andFlorida Department of Health, Broward Countystands ready to increase capacity as needed.Broward has the sites ready to increase capacity asresources are provided. I look forward to workingwith municipalities throughout the county to providethese vital resources to protect public health. Pleaseremember to only get a test when one is needed,and that the best way to protect yourself is to vaccinatetoday.February 14th marks the 4th anniversary when ourcommunity experienced the horrific tragedy of theshooting at MSD. We continue and will always beavailable to support those affected. It is difficult toput into words the feelings I have from that day andthe collective pain our community has endured. I willdo everything in my power to support better mentalhealth services, and the best resources that can beprovided.The top priority in my office is that we stayconnected with the residents of District 3and Broward County.
