FENSTERBAU DATE
MOVED AGAIN
Trade show FENSTERBAU FRONTALE has
been rescheduled and will now take place
between Tuesday 12th – Friday 15th July
2022.
The show was originally due to take place
from 29th March to 1st April 2022.
“Although we are allowed to continue to
run exhibitions, our customers still have a
strong sense of uncertainty,” explained Petra
Wolf, Member of the Management Board,
NürnbergMesse.
“And given the dynamic nature of the infection
situation, we unfortunately cannot rule out the
possibility that legislation at a national and
state level will have to be adapted or made
more stringent at short notice.”
The course taken by the Covid-19 pandemic
and the postponement of other industry
events in the first quarter of 2022 is said to
have recently contributed to the uncertainty
among the exhibitors of FENSTERBAU
FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK.
Elke Harreiss, Director FENSTERBAU
FRONTALE, and Stefan Dittrich, Director
HOLZ-HANDWERK, added: “By acting early
to reschedule FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and
HOLZ-HANDWERK to a date in summer, we are
accommodating the wishes of many exhibitors
to provide a meeting place for the industry
where they can network and do business in a
positive atmosphere in 2022.
“To achieve this, we are relying on a hygiene
and access concept that has already proven
successful and combines our customers’
needs for personal interaction with safety in
the best possible way.
“Together with our exhibitors and partners,
we are looking forward to meeting again in
Nuremberg between 12 and 15 July 2022,
with positive interaction between industry
colleagues, profitable new business contacts,
and all kinds of trends and inspiration for
business!”
STUDY SHOWS HOMEOWNERS WOULD
CHOOSE HIGHER RECYCLED CONTENT
More than two-thirds of UK homeowners
(68%) would choose windows and doors with
a higher recycled content over and above
products which don’t, or which do so at a
lower level, according to a new study.
The findings of the survey by leading pollster
YouGov also found that 63% of homeowners said
that they would be more likely to purchase home
improvements, which they saw as being more
‘sustainable’.
Commissioned by Deceuninck, the study also
found that 38%, would be prepared to pay more
for home improvement products that had higher
recycled content and reduced impact on the
environment.
Rob McGlennon, Managing Director, Deceuninck,
said: “Sustainability is going to top the agenda for
the next decade – it has to.
“That growing awareness about climate-change
and the negative impact we’re having as a
global society on the planet, is filtering into
each purchasing decision that we’re making as
consumers.
“This includes windows and doors. Products
which are seen as being more energy efficient,
Certification body the British Board of Agrément
has been given the green light to issue UK
Technical Assessments (UKTAs) – the first
organisation in the UK to gain this approval.
The announcement comes at a critical time for
UK-based construction product manufacturers,
importers and distributors who have just a year
to prepare their businesses for the switch from
CE Marking to the new UKCA Marking regime
for products placed in the GB
market.
As part of this process, European
Technical Assessments (ETAs)
will be replaced by UKTAs, with
approved UK-based Technical
more recyclable and which have a lower impact in
manufacture, are increasingly important in driving
the purchasing decisions of end users.”
When asked to rank the importance of different
factors which would impact on their decision
to buy windows and doors, ‘security’ topped
the billing, rated as important by 91% of total
respondents.
Energy efficiency was the next biggest driver,
cited by 89% of those polled. This was followed
by appearance and the match/fit to their existing
property 86%. Sustainability was cited as
important by 67% of those surveyed.
thoughts on sustainability and the opportunities
BBA IS FIRST UKTA ASSESSMENT BODY
Assessment Bodies (TABs) such as the BBA
required to assess products for the UK market.
The news was confirmed by the Department for
Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).
CEO Hardy Giesler, said: “We are delighted to have
