From a defensive perspective, we have
been able to secure the services of Dion
Sanderson, on loan from Wolves, and
we are delighted to welcome him to the
club. Dion has played against us this
season while at Birmingham and showed
his qualities both with and without the
ball. A physically powerful athlete, Dion
is comfortable in possession, and he will
provide another layer of quality to both
the defensive unit and the overall playing
squad. Dion will undoubtedly be pushing
hard for a starting berth, and it is this
level of competition that we must have if
we are to keep pushing forward.
An attacking midfield option would be
another ideal addition, but such players
are so difficult to secure. Any player
coming into the squad must provide a
quality that we currently lack and as such,
with the calibre of players we already
have at our disposal, this will prove
difficult at best. Much work is going on
behind the scenes and, as we approach
the end of the window, we may hopefully
see some late flurry of activity.
You will see from the club website
that some of our younger players are
being sent out on loan to gain invaluable
experience. Stephen Duke-McKenna
has gone to Torquay and Aaron Drewe
has joined Weymouth. This is such a
brutally difficult business for any aspiring
player, and it is the experience gained on
such loans that can play an important
part in defining the next stage of their
careers. We wish all of our young loanees
the best of luck.
That just leaves me, as always, to express
my appreciation for the continued
backing that you have consistently given
the team, both at home and on the road.
Once again on Tuesday, despite freezing
conditions and the game being shown live
on Sky, you turned out in good numbers
and gave great vocal support. I apologise
for repeating the same message, however
the backing is greatly appreciated and
never taken for granted!
