TRUST DELIVERS SUCCESSFUL NCS SCHEME
ALMOST 100 young people took part in a twoweek
National Citizen Service programme in
conjunction with the QPR in the Community
Trust College Academy.
The academy is a full-time time football and
education programme for players aged 16-19,
enabling them to combine their development
with studying for BTEC Level 1, 2 or 3 sports
qualifications.
Based at the Middlesex FA headquarters
in Rectory Park, Northolt and Stubbers
Adventure Centre, Upminster, the Trust’s
NCS team led a variety of engaging outdoor
activities and workshops.
Outdoor events included rock climbing, laser
tag, archery and team-building exercises, while
there were workshops on first aid training,
careers after football and understanding sport
psychology.
Ray Paul, the founder of BBC Radio 1Xtra, was
among the guest speakers who provided the
participants with an insight into potential
careers after leaving education.
The young people were also given the
opportunity to devise their own social action
projects, which included litter picking around
Rectory Park, fixing the nets of their goalposts
and helping maintain the facilities around them.
