‘R’ OWN
A CLOSER LOOK AT QPR’S UNDER-18
SQUAD AS WE FIND OUT MORE ABOUT
THE POTENTIAL STARS OF TOMORROW.
LORENT TALLA
MIDFIELDER/WINGER
From: Kilburn
Joined QPR: Age 12
Pre-match Meal:
Sometimes eggs
and beans
How did you get scouted?
I was at Brentford for five years before the academy was closed
down. QPR offered me a chance straight away, along with other
clubs, but I chose QPR.
Have you always played the same position?
I have always played either centre mid or on the wing. But
recently I suffered a long-term back injury and have been out
for six months. I’m on the road to recovery now though and
hopefully I’ll be back in the near future.
What’s the highlight of your career to date?
My international debut for Kosovo. It was at an U15 UEFA
tournament against Estonia, Albania and Kazakhstan. We won
the tournament, beating Albania 1-0 in the final. The feeling of
winning was great! I also got the most assists in the tournament
(4) and scored my first ever direct free-kick! Unfortunately, due
to injury, I’ve not been able to attend any other camps.
Who’s your favourite player or inspiration?
I’ve got two – Philippe Coutinho and Kevin De Bruyne because
I play like a combination of both. I try to take bits of their game
and add them to mine, with Coutinho’s creativity and De
Bruyne’s ability to pick out a pass.
Which of your team-mates is most likely to become a coach
or manager one day?
I see Henry Hawkins as a future manager because he is a good
leader. He leads by example on and off the pitch.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
I hope to be playing in the Premier League and representing my
country regularly.
