FAMILIAR FACE:
MIKELE
LEIGERTWOOD
Midfielder Mikele Leigertwood featured in successive
Championship-winning seasons, playing for QPR in 2010/11
before moving to Reading and matching that achievement a year
later.
Leigertwood, who began his career at Wimbledon, won promotion to
the Premier League with Crystal Palace before moving on to Sheffield
United and then Rangers in a £900,000 deal in August 2007.
During his three and a half years with the Hoops, he was also deployed
in central defence and at right-back, finding the net 12 times in 131
games prior to joining Reading, initially on loan.
The Royals signed Leigertwood on a permanent deal at the end of the
2010/11 season and he went on to score the goal that sealed their
promotion a year later, eventually retiring due to injury in 2014. He
returned to the club two years later as Academy loan manager.
