FORMER QPR youngster Josh
Laurent worked his way up
through the leagues before
becoming a regular at
Championship level with the
Royals and was named their
player of the season for 2020/21.
Despite spending two years with
the R’s, Laurent failed to make a
first-team appearance and moved
briefly to Brentford in 2015 before
further spells with Hartlepool,
Wigan and a loan switch to Bury.
The midfielder’s breakthrough
came at Shrewsbury, where he
scored eight goals in 93 games
over a two-year period and
Reading snapped him up on a free
transfer when his contract expired
in 2020.

George Puscas became
Reading’s record
signing when the club
paid £8m to Inter Milan
to secure his signature
in the summer of 2019.
Inter signed Puscas
as a teenager, giving him
a taste of Serie A and
Europa League football
before loaning him out
to Bari, Benevento and
Novara and the striker
eventually moved to
Serie B side Palermo
in 2018.
He scored nine goals
in his first season with
the Sicilian club, but
their relegation
prompted Inter to
activate a buy-back
clause in the deal –
only to sell him again
to Reading just
months later.
