play one up top with a No 10 in behind.
You and Charlie Austin both have a
pretty decent record when it comes
to taking penalties – who gets first
crack if you’re both on the pitch at
the same time?
For a striker, penalties can add a few
goals to your tally at the end of the year,
so obviously we both want to be taking
them. I’ll certainly put my hand straight
up for it! That situation hasn’t happened
yet but it’ll be a conversation to be had
between us, depending on the game and
the situation. Charlie and I get on really
well but maybe if that comes up, I’ll have
to put him in a headlock to try and get
the ball!
Your international team-mate David
Marshall recently joined QPR – did you
get involved in ensuring that move
came about?
I spoke with David beforehand – in my
head I thought he’d be a great addition
to the squad with his experience. You
can see how big a player he’s been for
Scotland and, with Seny going away at a
critical time in the season and then the
injury to Jordan, it just happened to work
out and he’s started really well. With all
the experience he brings, sometimes
you need that when you’re trying to push
for promotion – it can be a major factor
in winning games.
