HOOPS
So many of the boys have
been chipping in with goals,
especially late in games -
Charlie, Albert and Yoann for
example - that we’ve managed
to keep momentum going
victories for your team but not finding
the net regularly yourself?
Of course. We’ve been on an amazing
run and everyone can see where we are
in the league. As a striker, you want to
chip in with goals, but sometimes you
might not get as many chances as you’d
like and, especially if you’re playing as
one of two up front, you also have to do
more work tracking back. But so many
of the boys have been chipping in with
goals, especially late in games – Charlie,
Albert and Yoann for example – that
we’ve managed to keep momentum
going, even in games where we haven’t
played at our best.
At the beginning of your QPR career,
you were operating as a lone striker
– how much difference has it made
playing in a pair more frequently?
It is different playing as a pair – you have
to work together and obviously it means
you also have different roles because
there are fewer players in midfield.
Charlie and Andre are great strikers,
we all have our different qualities and,
when you’ve got strikers who can link
up well, things tend to go better for the
team. It helps that you can spread the
goals around and, when you’re attacking
crosses, it means defenders have to
worry about two of you instead of just
one – that can free you up and give you
