HOOPS
Lyndon, after the team’s recent run
of form, can we dare to dream about
making the top two?
It’s always good to dream because it
gives you something to push for, but
you can’t get carried away and take your
foot off the gas. We might be saying ‘we
could have done better’ at the end of the
season, or we might be saying ‘what a
year!’ and we’ve gone up into the Premier
League. There are a lot of games left at
this stage and anything can happen.
Having missed most of November and
December with an ankle injury, you must
be pleased to be playing regularly again…
It was bad timing with the injury – my
momentum was good in terms of playing
games and scoring goals. I picked it up
in the game against Nottingham Forest,
it was just from the impact of a tackle
and it was a lingering thing that ended up
being ligament damage. I played a couple
of games with the injury and struggled
to get through it. I hate being injured but
it was one of those things and I’m just
happy to be back on the pitch, feeling
good and also with the team playing well.
Your first goal of 2022 was that late
equaliser against Rotherham to keep us
in the FA Cup…
Rotherham were a decent side and,
although I didn’t start the game, I just
wanted to make a difference for the team
once I got on. It was really good to get
that goal and ultimately we did well in the
penalty shoot-out and got through. You
want to get as far as you can in the FA
Cup, hopefully draw some big teams and
I think that’s something the supporters
enjoy as well.
This may be a predictable question
for any centre-forward – can you
feel content if you’re contributing to
