HOOPS SANDERSON SEALS RANGERS MOVE QPR confirmed the signing of Wolves defender Dion Sanderson on loan until the end of the season just before Tuesday’s game against Swansea City. The 22-year-old, who can play in a central role or on the righthand side, emerged onto the pitch to greet Rangers fans prior to the 0-0 draw. Sanderson could make his debut this afternoon, having lined up against the R’s twice this season during his loan spell with Birmingham City. “This is the next stage of my development and I couldn’t be anywhere better than QPR,” said Sanderson. “I studied QPR, their style of play and how the gaffer likes to play, and it suits me so it just made absolute sense to come here. “I’m an aggressive ball-playing defender. I like a battle with any strikers – it’s part of my game. I might not look the biggest but I’ll give you a tough time. “The team are in a good place. Promotion is key but we have to take one game at a time. “Wherever the gaffer wants me to help, I’m willing to help – whether that’s playing or in the dressing room around the boys.” Sanderson, who has been on the books at his hometown club since the age of eight, has also had previous loan spells at Cardiff and Sunderland. DUO DEPART ON LOAN TWO younger members of the squad have been loaned out to National League sides until the end of the season. Defender Aaron Drewe, who made his first-team debut against Rotherham in the FA Cup earlier this month, will spend the remainder of the campaign at Weymouth. The 20-year-old made his Terras debut in their 2-1 home defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday. Midfielder Stephen Duke- McKenna has been loaned to Torquay and featured twice in their starting line-up this week, helping the Gulls to a 2-1 victory at Altrincham before a 2-0 reverse against Solihull Moors three days later. WELCOME BACK, ANTON FORMER QPR defender Anton Ferdinand returns to the pitch at half-time today for his induction into the ranks of the Forever R’s club. Ferdinand, who had spent several years at the top level with West Ham and Sunderland before joining Rangers in 2011, made 49 appearances for the club. The 36-year-old played in Turkey and Thailand prior to a twoyear spell with this afternoon’s opponents, Reading.
