I’m so happy to announce that this month our welcome letter is from
Mirko profeti, our ops team superstar. In the last months he worked
tirelessly on a project that will involve all the emea vans family.
A huge thank you from all of us!
Dear Vans Family,
I write this intro with extreme pleasure as it gives me the opportunity to speak about
HEARTSHARE.
As some of you may already know, I previously was a Store Manager and before that I was the
responsible of a concession in Milan,
so when I have been proposed to organize HEARTSHARE, I immediately jumped on the project
and started to work hard, already almost one year ago .
Why?
Because what I like most is that I’m working on something really important, impacting
concretely our People, their working life.
I love the opportunity to improve the wellbeing of our people, and solve maybe issues I also
experienced on my skin during my previous occupation.
Indeed with HEARTSHARE, we want to know if our Family in the field is happy
for working with us, how much you are inspired by your job and what we
DO NEED do to improve your working life.
In other words, our purpose is:
• KNOW MORE ABOUT THE NEEDS OF OUR PEOPLE IN THE FIELD
• IDENTIFY POTENTIAL “CRITICAL/PAIN” AREAS
• PUT IN PLACE A CONCRETE ACTION PLAN TO IMPROVE THE WORK
CONDITIONS IN RETAIL
How?
To complete the mission we identified a survey as the best option!
But It isn’t the usual survey to measure just the satisfaction of retail staff;
It is focusing especially on your sentiments, feelings and emotions
connected with your life in VANS.
On our side, we guarantee that we will make the best use of each frank answer and
constructive feedback, that we will treasure the fundamental contribution of each of you
and give you the opportunity to #drive the change they want to see

New York City (Lower East Side) born and based fashion designer; 27
years old. Sandy initially attended the Rhode Island School of Design
to study architecture, but transferred to the Parsons School of
Design, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2013. After
graduating from Parsons, Liang started her eponymous label, with her
collections rooted in New York influence and style.

her guiding design principles and pillars. Sandy exemplifies creative

For this season’s collaboration, Sandy is inspired by her Family & NYC.
Family is everything to her and she adores styling her grandma in her
designs and is a true testament to timeless fashion. Influencers, models,
and artists alike love her street style but also her ability to elevate
basics into something new, fresh and never been done. Sandy loves drawing
on nostalgia, hints of humor, and using traces of pink in many of her designs.
Growing up on the Lower Eastside of New York, Sandy looks to the city for
continued inspiration. Often she includes hidden nods to show love for her

The store is an outlet as said, but it also has a full price area to make sure really every
customer can find what they need!
For the moment it’s a 1yr temporary store, but considering the location (right in front of
Disneyland Paris), the importance of the mall, and most of all the AMAZING TEAM WE
HAVE, I’m sure it will be super successful and at the end we will permanently have
them with us

I want to share with you all something we have recently started to use in our
store.
We think that it might be useful to you as well.
We have a folder labelled as “Customer Issues”, in which we keep
all the data of our customers that come to the store complaining about
something wrong with their purchases.
We also add pictures of the products, emails and everything we have at that time
about certain complaint, and we add information about what we are have done
so far with the complaints so anyone can have a look. It is a good way to have all
the information about any problem or faulty product that we have collected.
This method helps us very much. If a customer comes in and the person that
they spoke with is not working, we can use the folder and tell the customer
how we are dealing with their problem. Also, we have their telephone number
and we can call them if the issue has been solved.
It really helps us to be informed about issues and we can all
help our customers with their problem, whoever made the
complaint.
What do we do at Vans Malaga
when the CR drops?

Use a manual counter!!!!
Well, sometimes the CR goes down due to the
entry of large groups, by families ... since the
meter is automatic.
What we do to keep a more precise control is
to count each individual person or each group
as 1, if the CR exceeds 30% we are going well, if
not, we have to work on it.
In this way we motivate ourselves and change
the way we sell to improve this.
It is possible to do it on calm days, when there is
a high number of visits it is not possible to do
this control.

We are naming the star of the month in store.
The reasons can be very different: make the
best sales of the month, prove to be key for
the team, have the best energy to cheer up
everybody, so many things can make you star
of the month.
This month our Star has been Ane Bugedo,
she smashed it, not only this month, all along
the Christmas season she has brought her best
to the floor and she shared her good vibes
with the rest of the team. She has also been
the one who has sold more Nikwax of the
team, winner of an internal competition we
made!

Hey guys I’m Lilly,
the new store manager assistant by Vans in cologne. I´m going to
support Phil from now on and I’m really looking forward to working
together.
I started in Leipzig two weeks ago. I am very happy that this was
possible, despite the pandemic.

there.
It’s something completely new for me to get
to know all of Vans´ systems. However, this
was also the reason why I came to an
international company like Vans.
In Leipzig are also very few admissions at the
moment due to the pandemic and I got an insight
into how you can use your working hours sensibly in
such a time.
I am very happy to be in Cologne now and to be able
to apply my new knowledge.
I´ve also been able to meet a lot of new people and
I´m very happy to be part of the Vans Family.
Together with Phil we want to lead our team to top
performance with a lot of positive energy.

I'm happy and hyped to take the lead of an amazing new and dedicated team.
I'm in this position for half a year. I'm hungry for more and willing to push the limits and put
Vans back on the map in Cologne again.
With my team, the Northbrigade and the Vans skateboarding team filmer based in my town I
see into a bright future to do this.
We're ready to rock 2022 even if these are pretty hard times for retail in general.

message from roel Kornips,
district manager trainee in
Benelux!
Roel... The stage is
yours!
Jera festival 2019, I’m on stage in front of a couple
thousand people telling them why I like the band that is
about to go on so much.
I consciously took the job of hosting the festival but
question myself on how I thought that was a good idea
now. I’m super excited, yet nervous as hell, but feel
powerful and alive above all…
How does this connect to the topic of me
participating in the DMT project? Easy!

I remember attending the kick-off in Stabio and being nervous as hell. Luckily it
wasn’t just me, the majority of the DMT group was somewhere between excited and
nervous and a simple introduction round turned out to be quite an assignment. A group by
the way, that consisted of 7 DMT’s of which 4 came from Vans.
Now, if that doesn’t tell you something about our Vans Family’s involvement and
ambition, right? Anyway, Nor taught us an empowering technique connecting the feeling
of pinching your thumb to a moment where you felt powerful to gain confidence. I went
back to the Jera festival in my mind and the second introduction round for resit went SO
MUCH smoother.
From that kick-off meeting on we’ve been on an interesting rollercoaster called
“DMT in Covid times” that turned out to be the longest running program due to,
well, you know... “Leading from a distance” was one of the important topics and
objectives for me, as (as a DM) you obviously can’t be always physically present
to support your stores & teams.

Little did we know how big this part of the job
would get throughout the pandemic.
Luckily my DM Nico & me teamed up for store visits in a very early
stage, so I’ve had the pleasure & privilege to do a lot of visits before the
shit hit the fan.
Going out there, meeting people, learning from them &
what they do and support them to be(come) the best
possible store/team/professional has always been my
favourite thing here.
I always thought of myself as a hard worker but taking on this
challenge really taught me there’s even a lot more that can be done
if you put yourself to it.
We’ve really accomplished some great things with the satellite
stores before, during, and most of all despite the Covid-thing.

However, being forced to work more from a distance that I would’ve wanted helped
me learn really a lot about myself, both as a professional as well as a person,
which I don’t think I would’ve gained (at least not this fast and clear) under
normal circumstances.
This whole journey has made me grow as a professional, grow as a person, feeling
appreciated by my Vans Family and valued by the company, and (above all) powerful and
alive! Things for which I’m grateful. My run of the project is over, but I’m hoping to keep
supporting Nico & the district. And, who knows, become a “real” DM one day.
While writing this I’m on the train to Rotterdam to meet up with my DM and do a store visit in
support of our brand-new store there. I pinch my thumb and go back to Stabio in my mind...

This last month has been a bit more challenging, most of the
customers that came into the store were already
members of the Vans Family.

Her name is Ottilie Quince, she is 39 years old
and lives in Puerto Pollença (Mallorca).
She is an enthusiast of the brand and for day to
day she always wears vans! but not just this,
she’s also 11 times cycling world
champion and captain of the Great
Britain Transplant Cycling team, but
wasn’t easy how it sound, ‘cause her Mums beat
cancer twice!

I introduce you to Ander, an aid worker of
Medicos Sin Fronteras who spends long
periods traveling to countries where they
need his help.
He builds houses in villages where they need it and
can't afford it.
It also teaches them education, provides them with
medical care... But every time he comes to Bilbao
the first thing he does is go to the store and renew
all his clothes and shoes.
For us it is super important that every time you
come you feel at home.
He perfectly represents the values of Vans
and hence we gave him the Vans 66, which made
him very excited!!!
