It is a great pleasure to send a congratulatory message
to the Blessed Commemorative Volume on the occasion of
the Seventy-fifth Birthday of the Venerable Dr. Pannila Sri
Anandabhidhana Thero, Chief Incumbent of the historic
Attanagalla Raja Maha Viharaya, Chief Head Monk of the
Seenadi Four Korale, Head of the Houston Buddhist Temple
in the United States and the Theravada Buddhist Temple in
Taiwan and Registrar of the Los Angeles Buddhist Temple,
USA. Ven. Thero who was born on 26 January 1947 in
the village of Pannila, Egodapotha, Peru in the Gampaha
District as the beloved child of father Wickramarachchilage
Sediris Sinno and mother Samaranayake Mudiyanselage
Lokuhamine Samaranayake, is an excellent, disciplined
Thero who entered the ordination called “Pannila Ananda”
and came to higher ordination in the year 1967. There are
many examples in the life of Ven. Thero who have made
invaluable contributions in many fields such as Sasana
perpetuation, patriotic service, general social welfare
and educational advancement of lay clergy students. I
gratefully appreciate the philanthropic services rendered
by Thero in the USA, Taiwan and many other countries
beyond the motherland, as a Buddhist monk. Thereby, Ven.
Thero bring great glory to our country. Ven. Thero was the
pioneer to create Buddhist revival in the region by making
the Attanagalla Rajamaha Viharaya a central temple of
the Bodu Vihara lineage and was the Chief Incumbent
of many temples and a Maha Thero, who endowed many
monks with great insight to the Sasana, as a patriarch of
the Sangha. I gratefully acknowledge the contribution of
Thero to the recovery of the lives of the people who were
devastated by the various catastrophic situations faced by
the nation, including the Tsunami disaster, as well as the
services rendered for the betterment of war heroes' welfare
and health services. It is my belief that Thero is playing
a national role in the development of Buddhist temples,
providing facilities for educational institutions including
schools, awarding educational scholarships, developing
libraries as well as programmes aimed at social upliftment
for the prevention and correction of narcotics. I congratulate
Ven. Pannila Sri Anandabhidhana Thero on Thero’s 75th
Birthday who lives a meaningful life of Buddha monk in
various dimensions and I sincerely in loving-kindness wish
Ven. Thero a good health and eternal life.
