Southwest from1937. Accommodation was provided by ‘Fred Harvey’ Hotels built
beside the railway or in tourist centres. Pioneering architect Mary Colter worked with
the Fred Harvey Company from 1902 to 1948; designs included La Posada, Winslow
and buildings in the Grand Canyon National Park. Entrepreneur Allan Affeldt
undertook the restoration of La Posada in 1994, re-opening in 1997.
