The Christmas Market on Mirabell square is an insider tip.
The small advent market away from the hustle and bustle
is perfect for enjoying a relaxed mug of mulled wine in a
festive atmosphere and surrounded by the beautifully
decorated huts. The market is located across the street from
Mirabell Castle, opposite the St. Andrä church and it offers a
wide choice of gifts for your loved ones, too – from handmade
clay items, different types of jewellery, wreaths, wooden
toys, leather goods, glassware, and wonderfully warm
gloves and scarves all the way to hand-crafted wooden
nativity scenes and figurines. And not to forget the culinary
delights and the symphony of Christmas music.
At Advent Market St. Leonhard at the foot of Untersberg,
visitors get to admire craftsmanship in its traditional form.
Since 1973 this relatively small market has been selling arts
and crafts products from Austria, Bavaria, and South Tyrol
– produced by schools, women’s associations, and groups
of people with disabilities. In line with the original spirit of
Christmas the entire net proceeds are donated to Lebenshilfe
association for people with disabilities.
