The thousands of unique items in store are captivating
and thought provoking. Your journey through all the
vintage items ranges from prints, original art, collectibles,
guitars, and so much more. Even having your fortune told by Zoltar! The
historical location used to be a pool hall years ago, and the original neon Billiards
sign is still here. Alex is currently developing an addition to the store to
house more collectibles.
TL - It’s obvious that was the right choice!
How did the road to what Curiosity Inc. is now begin?
I mostly searched and sold higher end items. I would start with one and
then turn it into two. It just took off from there! I would search garage
and estate sales for items. Now, mostly people are reaching out to me.
TL - Your YouTube channel, Curiosity Incorporated has also taken off.
You have over 300k subscribers!
I love to document my adventures and share them with my viewers.
Every day and every video is a new adventure!
TL - I love to watch your videos. You know so much, it blows my mind!
I don’t know about that (laughs) I do make mistakes identifying items, and
I get corrected quickly in the comment sections. I love the community
and the eagerness to share and learn together.
TL - I discovered your channel during the Potter House series.
Can you tell me more about that and who Mary was?
I had the opportunity to purchase Mary Borgstrom’s home, contents
and all. She was a Canadian potter, ceramist, and artist who specialized
in primitive techniques. Her artwork was shown world-wide, and appeared
in numerous collections and exhibitions.
TL - You chose to save the house and restore it.
What an undertaking that was!
It was a long and arduous process. I loved it! We discovered many
unpublished pieces of Mary’s art and were able to preserve so much of
her history and the opportunity to share her life’s story.
TL - Thank you for taking the time to talk today! Can you share a final
thought about how you keep collecting antiques fresh?
It was a pleasure! Thank you too. The key to buying and selling antiques
is to make it fun and grab peoples attention. The store contains everything
to entertain kids and adults. I believe in making vintage items
accessible to everyone, making it fun and not too serious.
