Installing Windows 2000 Advanced Server (ES5044R, ES5085R, and ES2024R)
n. If you have a gateway (router), tab to the Default Gateway field and type the
gateway address from Table 2–2.
o. Click Advanced and add any additional gateway entries that the site requires.
p. If the site chooses to implement WINS, click the WINS tab (otherwise skip this
step), then enter WINS information as follows:
1) Click Add and type the address from Table 2–2. Click Add again.
2) Enter any additional IP addresses from Table 2–2.
q. Click the DNS tab.
r. If the site has any DNS servers, click Add (otherwise skip this step). In the
window that appears, enter the IP address for the first DNS server from Table 2–2;
then click Add again.
s. If applicable, click Add and enter any additional DNS servers.
t. Click to uncheck “Register the connections added in DNS.”
u. Leave the default selections for the DNS suffix as they are. (“Append
primary…and append parent….”)
v. Click OK.
w. Click OK.
x. Click Next.
10. A Workgroup or Computer Domain screen identifies the host name of the Windows
2000 node and asks whether the node is to participate in a workgroup or domain.
Proceed as follows:
a. Click No.
b. Enter the workgroup name CLEARPATH in the box labeled Workgroup or
computer domain.
Note: You can enter a different workgroup name if the client site
requirements are different.
c. Click Next.
The Windows 2000 Server Setup screen indicates that it is installing Windows 2000
components. This may take several minutes. A progress bar shows the status of the
installation.
The following message appears:
You have successfully completed Windows 2000 Setup.
If there is a CD in your drive, remove it. Then,
to restart your computer, click Finish.
11. Click Finish.
The server reboots. After a few minutes, the Windows 2000 Advanced Server logo
appears and you are prompted to press Ctrl-Alt-Del to log on.
12. Log on as the administrator (3.5).
A menu labeled Windows 2000 Configure Your Server appears, giving three options:
