2.3. Installation Tips Caution Installation Checklists and Tips Failure to follow the procedures recommended in this subsection may result in installation problems and additional work. This subsection describes procedures you can use to minimize problems during and after installation. 2.3.1. Hardware Tips Return to this section in either case below. More information follows. • Problems with the RAID subsystem • PING test failure Recovering from a RAID Subsystem Problem To recover from a problem with the RAID subsystem, take the appropriate set of steps below: For AMI MegaRAID cards— 1. Run the FlexRAID utility software (7.1.5 or 7.2.3). 2. Click the prointer icon under Configuration to get a listing of the RAID configuration. 3. Save a listing, especially if the configuration is different from the default. For Mylex RAID cards— 1. If you are currently logged on, shut down and reboot your server. 2. During the reboot, press ALT-R to obtain the Mylex DAC1100 RAID configuration options. The Welcome to RAID EzAssist menu is displayed. 3. Select “Back up configuration” and press enter. The Back Up Configuration menu appears. 4. Insert a blank diskette into the floppy drive and press Enter. 5. When the configuration file has been written to the diskette, the menu closes, and you return to the main Welcome menu. 6. Press the ESC key, select YES to exit from RAID EzAssist, and press Enter.
