SCO UnixWare
A popular version of SVR4. UnixWare software combines Symmetrical Multi-Processing
(SMP) technologies from Unix System Laboratories, Inc. (USL), enhancement by Novell,
Inc., and solution delivery from The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (SCO). SCO UnixWare has
improved reliability and price/performance ratios.

shared resource
Cluster organization in which some resources are accessible to all nodes in the cluster.
shared SCSI bus
Each shared storage bus attaches one or more disks that hold data used either by server
applications running on the cluster or by applications for managing the cluster. MSCS
currently supports only SCSI shared–storage buses. Each disk on the shared SCSI bus is
owned by only one node of the cluster. The ownership of disks moves from one node to
another when the disk group fails over or moves to the other node.
shell
The command interpreter that passes commands to SVR4. The most common shells are
the c shell and the Bourne shell.
shell script
A collection of commands stored in a file that can be executed as input to the shell (similar
to batch file commands in MS-DOS).
simple network management protocol (SNMP)
A protocol for transporting management data between networked devices and
applications, typically from a variety of vendors, and systems or applications that monitor
or control those devices and applications in a TCP/IP-based network. See also SNMP
agent.
Single Point Operations (SPO)
Unisys software that enables you to monitor and operate multiple systems from one
location by gathering operations-related information over a network. This information is
presented in a window environment. The displayed information can include exact
replications of one or more system console displays and remote terminal sessions.
