1.2.2. Installation Procedure Overview Introduction and Installation Overview This subsection briefly describes the overall ClearPath IX server installation procedure. Figure 1–2 illustrates the steps. The procedure identifies sections with detailed information. Hardware and Plateau Software Installation These are the main steps covered in this manual: 1. Install and cable all ClearPath IX server hardware. Refer to the Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Servers IX4800/IX5000/IX6000 Servers Installation and Servicing Reference (7842 5980)for additional information. 2. Configure the monitor concentrator (switch box). Refer to 2.5.1. 3. Switch the monitor concentrator to the SCF master position (2.5.2), power on the SCF master console, and install and configure SCF workstation software. For all SCF software installation steps, use procedures described in the Unisys e-@ction ClearPath Enterprise Servers IX4800/IX5000/IX6000 Series Systems Plateau Customer Reference Manual (7859 5774). Note: While system console software is loading, you can switch the monitor concentrator to the Intel node position and install Windows NT or UnixWare IOE software (step 9). 4. Take the following steps to load the SCMS database and operations database (ODB) files: a. Reboot the 2200 node master console in site data facility (SDF) online mode, and load the factory-built customer SCMS database. b. Reboot the master console in SCF offline mode and load the factory-built customer ODB files. c. Reboot the master console in SCF online mode. 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for optional backup master SCF console. Repeat step 4 for optional slave SCF consoles. Note: Once the operating system tape has been loaded on the master system console, you can remove the boot diskette and tape and start loading the operating system tape on the next system console. 7850 5104–009 Version 009B (Web Only) 1–5
