Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS)
A product that provides resiliency for applications in the Windows NT environment. MSCS
software uses a clustering architecture that enables a group of independent Windows NT
systems to work as a single system, allows the end user to interact with the cluster as a
single server, keeps server-based applications highly available regardless of individual
component failure, and provides high availability of resources, including data and
applications.
Microsoft Excel
A spreadsheet application for the Windows 95 and Windows NT environments. It supports
basic operations, formula creation, formatting, printing, and charting.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
A popular Web browser developed by Microsoft Corporation.
Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
A Web server integrated in the Windows NT Server 4.0 environment that provides
enhanced performance and management features to make administering your Internet or
intranet site easier.
Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS)
A product that enables developing and deploying high-performance, scalable, and reliable
distributed applications. MTS combines the technology of component-based development
and deployment environments with the reliability and scalability of transaction processing

Microsoft Transaction Server component
A COM component that executes in the Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) run-time
environment. An MTS component must be a dynamic link library (DLL), implement a class
factory to create objects, and describe all the component’s interfaces in a type library for
standard marshaling.
Microsoft Visual Basic
A programming system that allows users to rapidly create applications having a graphical
user interface (GUI) for the Microsoft Windows environment.
middleware
Software required to support interactions between clients and servers. Examples of
middleware are TCP/IP software, NetWare, remote procedure call (RPC) software, Open
Database Connectivity (ODBC) drivers, and client software for accessing distributed
transaction processing (DTP) applications.
mount
MTA
To integrate the local directory structure of a physical disk partition into the overall SVR4
directory hierarchy.
