1.2.1. Main Components
Table 1–2 describes the main ClearPath IX server hardware components (Figure 1–1).
Table 1–2. ClearPath IX Server Components
Component Description
2200 node The IX 4000/5000/6000 processor that supports the OS 2200 operating
system and related software. The 2200 node is located in the processing
complex cabinet (PCC).
Channel service I/O
processor (CSIOP)
The 2200 node channel interface that supports communication with other
server nodes over a private interconnect (the private FDDI LAN).
FDDI cable (internal LAN) A private FDDI LAN interconnects all nodes in the ClearPath IX server. Each
node communicates with every other node using reserved hostnames and
private IP addresses on this LAN (see Appendix B).
Intel node The e-@ction server node that supports the Windows NT or UnixWare operating
system and related software. The Intel nodes are located in the Intel processing
complex cabinet (IPCC).
