Configuring Intel Nodes for Monitoring by SPO
Messages indicate that the name is added as an alias for the UnixWare node in the
hosts file.
Changing line in /etc/hosts from:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx systemname
to:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx systemname CP_UNIXx # Alias needed by URM
Those messages are followed by a prompt asking whether you wish to install the URM
agent.
Do you wish to install the UNIX Resource Monitor (URM) at this time?
Please enter y or n:
7. Type N,then press Enter.
A prompt asks whether you wish to redirect the console output.
Do you wish to perform console re-direction to port com1 at this time?
Please enter y or n:
8. Type Y, then press Enter.
Messages indicate that the console output is being redirected to the serial port.
Configuring console to use com1 as the console device.
The change will take effect at the next system reboot.
To reverse this change, remove or comment out the line that starts
with "console=" in the file /stand/boot.
9. Shut down the system by entering the following:
shutdown -i6
Shutdown messages now appear. If you receive a prompt asking if you want to
continue, type Y in response and press Enter.
10. When the UnixWare node reboots, the first part of the boot operation displays at the
monitor concentrator, then the console output is redirected to the SPO workstation.
You can observe that in the CP_UNIXx session that you started in step 1.
Some messages are mirrored at the monitor concentrator, but the CP_UNIXx session
on the SPO workstation is the only console session you can interact with.
If the UnixWare node does not successfully reboot, see the procedures for using the
emergency recovery diskette in 8.13.
To remove the console redirection changes and restore the UnixWare node to normal
console operation, do the following:
1. Remove or comment out the line that starts with “console=” in the /stand/boot file.
2. On UnixWare 7 systems, remove the following file:
/etc/dt/config/Xservers
