Configuring Intel Nodes for Monitoring
by SPO
Follow these steps to configure the Intel nodes of the ClearPath IX system so they can be
monitored by SPO Basic Edition:
1. If your SPO workstation is a PC running XVision, log on to the workstation as
described in 11.14.
2. Start the Single Point Configuration routine (12.1).
3. Customize the SPO Basic Edition configuration (12.2).
4. Configure and install the UNIX Resource Monitor (URM) agent on the SPO server and
each UnixWare Intel node (12.3).
5. Transfer the SPO Windows agent to each Windows 2000 and Windows NT Intel node
(12.4).
6. Configure each Windows NT Intel node for monitoring and control by ControlIT (if
applicable) (12.5).
7. Exit from the Single Point Configuration routine (12.6) and log on to SPO Basic
Edition as the operator (12.7).
8. For each Windows 2000 and Windows NT node, install the SPO Windows agent (12.8).
9. For each UnixWare node, run the URM agent installation and console output
redirection script (12.9).
12.1. Starting the Single Point Configuration
Routine
To install and configure agents, you must log on as the administrator and use the Single
Point Configuration routine.
Start the Single Point Configuration routine as follows:
1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the SPO workstation.
2. If your SPO workstation is a Windows NT PC, log on as described in 11.14, then click
Start, Programs, XVision, then XVision server.
The SPO server’s UnixWare graphical user interface (GUI) logon screen appears.
