Setting Up the Windows 2000 Workstation If Windows Is Preloaded The next subsections tell how to prepare the SPO workstation for use if Windows 2000 has been preloaded on it. (Windows 2000 is preloaded on workstation style GWP-W.) Take the following steps: 1. Run Windows 2000 Professional Setup to configure the workstation with information local to the site. 2. Configure the display properties. 3. Install and configure Internet Information Services. 4. Install the display software. These procedures are described in 11.9 through 11.12. 11.10. Installing Windows 2000 on the SPO Workstation Take the following steps to configure a workstation on which Windows 2000 has been preloaded: 1. Power on the workstation. The system boots, and the Windows 2000 Professional Setup window appears. 2. Click Next. The License Agreement dialogue box is displayed. 3. Click I accept this agreement, then click Next. The Regional Settings dialogue box appears. 4. Customize the locale and keyboard settings if the defaults are not correct. (The dialogue box is self-explanatory.) Then click Next. A dialogue box labeled Personalize Your Software appears. 5. Enter name and organization as follows: a. Name field—Enter the user name the site wants identified with the Windows 2000 node. b. Press the Tab key to advance to the Organization field. c. Organization field—Enter the organization the site wants identified with the Windows 2000 node. d. Click Next to proceed to the next screen. A dialogue box labeled Computer Name and Administrator Password appears. 6. In the Name field, enter the host name from Table 2–2 by which the SPO workstation will be identified on the external TCP/IP network. 11–26 Version 009B (Web Only) 7850 5104–009

Installing and Configuring SPO Workstation Software 7. Enter and confirm the password for the administrator’s account as follows: a. In the Password field, type the password administrator. b. Press the Tab key to go to the Confirm Password field. Type administrator in that field. Note: Following installation, the site must change the default password (administrator) to a different password. See 11.14.3 for the procedure. A dialogue box labeled Date and Time Settings appears. 8. Set the correct date, time, and time zone for the site. (The dialogue box is selfexplanatory.) Then click Next. The Network Settings dialogue box appears. 9. Select Custom Settings, then click Next. The Networking Components dialogue box appears. 10. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it, then click the Properties button. An Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window appears. 11. Click Use the following IP address. Enter the information from Table 2–2 in the fields for the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, and alternate DNS server, where applicable. 12. Click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window. 13. Click Next. The Workgroup or Computer Domain dialogue box appears. 14. Click the first option (No, this computer is not on a network…). 15. Change the workgroup name to CLEARPATH, then click Next. The components you entered are installed; then a Performing Final Tasks window charts progress as the Start menu is updated and other tasks are completed. This may take up to 10 minutes. Finally, a message says you have successfully completed the setup. 16. Click Finish on the message about successful completion. The workstation reboots. Following reboot, the Network Identification Wizard appears. 17. Click Next. The Users of This Computer dialogue box appears. 18. Select Users must enter a user name… 19. Click Next. Network identification completes. 20. Click Finish. A logon screen appears. Leave it in place for step 1 below. 7. Enter <strong>and</strong> confirm the password for the administrator’s account as follows:<br />

Note: Following installation, the site must change the default password<br />

(administrator) to a different password. See 11.14.3 for the procedure.<br />

A dialogue box labeled Date <strong>and</strong> Time Settings appears.<br />

Then click Next.<br />

14. Click the first option (No, this computer is not on a network…).<br />

15. Change the workgroup name to CLEARPATH, then click Next.<br />
