Installing and Configuring SPO Workstation Software 11.5. Installing Y2K Service Packs on the Windows NT Workstation Once the system is rebooted (11.3, step 6), log on to the workstation(11.14.2). The operating system checks for possible Year 2000 problems and displays a message listing any service packs needed to correct them: To resolve Windows NT 4.0 Year 2000 issues you must install: Microsoft Internet Explorer Service Pack Microsoft Data Access Components Service Pack Note: Make note of any other service packs not listed here so that you can install them as well. If no year-2000 issues are detected (no service packs are listed), continue by configuring the FTP service, as described in 11.5. Otherwise, follow these steps to install the service packs for Y2K remediation: 1. Click No to View the Y2K.TXT file. 2. Close the Welcome to Windows NT window. 3. Insert the Windows NT Service Pack CD-ROM in the drive. Internet Explorer should again start automatically. 4. Scroll down the page and click Microsoft Internet Explorer Service Pack. 5. Click Install IE 4.01 SP1 for Intel-Based Systems. 6. Click Open. An Active Setup window appears. 7. Click Next. 8. Check I accept, then click Next. 9. In the Installation Option list, click Standard Installation. 10. Click Next. 11. In the Windows Desktop Update, select No. 12. Click Next. 13. Highlight the correct country and click Next. 14. Click Next again. A status bar shows the progress of the update installation. 15. When setup has finished, click OK. A restart window is displayed. 16. Remove the CD-ROM and click OK. Close any Welcome windows that appear. 19. Insert the service pack CD-ROM again. Internet Explorer starts again. 20. Scroll down and click Microsoft Data Access Components 2.0 Service Pack 1. 21. Click Install Data Access Components for Intel-Based Systems. 22. Select Run this program from its current location, then click OK. 23. Click Yes for the security warning. 24. Click Yes to accept the license agreement. 25. Click Continue. 26. Click Complete Install. 27. Click Yes. 28. Remove the CD-ROM and click Restart Windows. If any other year-2000 service packs were listed at the beginning of this section, install them in the same manner. Continue by configuring the FTP service (11.5). 11.6. Configuring the FTP Service on the Windows NT Workstation To configure the FTP service, take the following steps: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT workstation and log on as the administrator. 2. Click Start, Programs, Microsoft Peer Web Services (common), then Internet Service Manager. 3. In the Computer column, double-click the icon associated with the FTP service (FTP listed in Service column). A tabbed FTP Service Properties screen opens. 4. Click the Directories tab and configure access as follows: a. Select the drive:\InetPub\ftproot (alias ) directory by clicking on it. The drive may be C or D. b. Click Edit Properties. A Directory Properties window appears. c. Click the Write check box in the Access section at the bottom of the window to enable write access (ensure that a check mark appears in the check box). d. 28. Remove the CD-ROM <strong>and</strong> click Restart Windows.<br />

If any other year-2000 service packs were listed at the beginning of this section, install<br />

11.6. Configuring the FTP Service on the Windows<br />

NT Workstation<br />

To configure the FTP service, take the following steps:<br />

1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT workstation<br />

<strong>and</strong> log on as the administrator.<br />

2. Click Start, Programs, Microsoft Peer Web Services (common), then Internet Service<br />

Manager.<br />

3. In the Computer column, double-click the icon associated with the FTP service (FTP<br />

listed in Service column).<br />

A tabbed FTP Service Properties screen opens.<br />

4. Click the Directories tab <strong>and</strong> configure access as follows:<br />
