Installing and Configuring SPO
Workstation Software
This section describes how to prepare the SPO workstation for monitoring and control of
either Windows or UnixWare nodes.
The SPO workstation runs either Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or Windows 2000
Professional Workstation, depending on the model of PC you receive. Use the following
table to determine which operating system you will use.
Workstation Model Operating System
CWP Windows NT 4.0
GWP-1—Identified by label E-4200 on front panel. Approximate
size: H 5.5” (14cm), W 18” (46 cm), D 17” (43 cm).
GWP-W—Identified by label E-1400 on front panel. Approximate
size: H 3.5” (9 cm), W 11.5” (29 cm), D 14” (36 cm).
Windows NT 4.0
Windows 2000
Professional
The GWP-1 (Windows NT) and GWP-W (Windows 2000) workstations have the operatingsystem
installation files preloaded on the hard drive, so full installation from the CD-ROM
is not required. However, the operating system still must be installed and configured. You
must complete the installation at the site.
If the operating system has not been preloaded, you must perform a full installation from
the CD-ROM.
11.1. Preparing the SPO Workstation for Use
Follow the appropriate instructions below to prepare the SPO workstation for use.
Note: The client, or a representative of the client, must read and agree to software
license agreements during the installation procedure.
For Windows NT Workstation 4.0—
1. Install and configure the Windows NT Workstation operating system (11.1)
2. Install network services (11.2)
3. Install the latest service pack for Windows NT Workstation 4.0 (11.3)
