Audience
In 2000, Unisys began offering several IX5600 Series and IX6600 Series entry-level systems.
These systems may or may not include Intel server nodes or SPO servers. Depending on
which entry-level system is delivered, sections of this book that document the installation
of these servers and associated software are not applicable and should be ignored.
This guide also provides overviews of site preparation requirements and hardware and
software installation tips and checklists to aid in successful software installation.
The goal of these procedures is to achieve hardware ready for use (RFU), so that the client
can begin customizing the software for the site. Instructions for installing and using
Integration Expert software are provided to aid in further customization.
To successfully install and customize optional software, sites may need many documents
in the ClearPath IX server product libraries. Most documents are available electronically
from the ClearPath HMP IX Server Information Web Site or on CD-ROM. Refer to
ClearPath Enterprise Servers Getting Started Guide for details about product
documentation.
Note: For initial installation, installation procedures in this guide replace procedures
in Windows NT Server and UnixWare operating system documents.
The audience for this document includes Unisys customer support representatives (CSR)
or service providers who install, configure, and make operational a ClearPath IX server.
Site administrators or other personnel at the site also need this document when installing
new levels of software.
Prerequisites
Some knowledge of OS 2200, Windows NT (if applicable), and UnixWare operating system
installation, configuration, and operation is helpful.
Before reading this overview, you should read the ClearPath Enterprise Servers Getting
Started Guide.
