Installing SPO Basic Edition and Related Software
Cautions
• The following procedure is a destructive installation procedure. Make sure
you have read and understand the procedure before proceeding.
• During the procedure, be sure the Caps Lock key on the keyboard does not
become locked in the uppercase position while making entries. Use the Shift
key if you want to enter an uppercase password.
To install UnixWare, take the steps below.
Notes:
• Switch the monitor concentrator to the SPO Server position before beginning (see
2.5.1).
• Ignore any error messages for invalid disk header that may appear before the
prompt to insert installation media.
1. With the power off, insert the boot diskette #1 (labeled “UnixWare 7 Installation
Diskette for Release 7.1.1 (1 of 2)”) into the primary (boot) diskette drive unit.
2. Turn the power on.
After hardware information is displayed, you see a “starting UnixWare” message and
the SCO logo. It may take several minutes to load the system from the installation
diskette. You are asked to select a language for the installation.
3. Select a language and press Enter. You receive a prompt to insert the second
installation diskette.
4. When you receive the prompt, insert the boot diskette #2 (labeled “UnixWare 7
Installation Diskette for Release 7.1.1 (2 of 2)”) into the diskette drive and press Enter.
After a brief delay, the Welcome window appears.
5. Press F10 to continue.
You are prompted to select the zone, locale, and keyboard type.
6. Select the zone, locale, and keyboard appropriate for the site, and press F10 to apply
your selections.
The following are default selections for a U. S. installation:
Zone America (Latin - 1)
Locale C (English)
Keyboard United States
You are prompted for licensing information.
7. Enter the license number, license code, and other license data from the information
preprinted on the installation package, and press F10 to apply.
Note: All licensing information is case-sensitive.
You are prompted with the option to load hardware configuration information from
the HBA diskette.
