Overview of Installing the Operating System and SPO Basic Edition Software The operating system may be preinstalled, or you may need to install it yourself. This section covers both cases. Proceed as follows: 1. Determine whether the software is preinstalled on the SPO server (10.2). If it is not preinstalled, skip to 10.4. 2. If the software is preinstalled, follow the procedures in the next subsection (10.3). Then skip to 10.12. 3. Install the operating system on the SPO server (10.4). 4. Log on as the superuser (10.15.3). 5. Install the UnixWare Platform Support Kit (PSK) (10.5). 6. Retrieve and apply fixes (10.6). 7. Set up the documentation search engine (10.7). 8. Configure the SPO server (10.8). 9. Create an emergency recovery diskette (10.9). 10. Install the multiport card driver (10.10). 11. Install SPO Basic Edition software on the server (10.11). 12. Create a 2200 console hosts file diskette (10.12). 13. Copy the hosts file to the system consoles (10.13). 14.
