Console output from the UnixWare node is redirected to the SPO workstation during
installation and configuration of that workstation as described in Section 12. Before
redirecting console output, you must ensure that you have emergency recovery diskettes to
use if the procedure should fail. The following subsections describe how to create (8.13.1)
and use (8.13.2) UnixWare emergency recovery diskettes.
Notes:
• Sites should create emergency recovery diskettes periodically to ensure that device
drivers are up to date.
• See the SCO UnixWare documentation for more information on UnixWare recovery
procedures.
8.12.1. Creating the Emergency Recovery Diskettes
Take the following steps to create emergency recovery diskettes for each UnixWare server
node, and for the SPO server if it is running UnixWare:
1. If you are not already logged on, log on as the root user (user-id root) (superuser)
(8.12.1).
2. Enter the following command:
# emergency_disk diskette1
You are prompted to insert a diskette.
Please insert a floppy and press
3. Insert a diskette into the disk drive and press Enter.
The following message appears:
This will take some time. Please wait . . .
After about 4 minutes, the following message appears:
Remove the floppy from the floppy drive.
Insert the second floppy and Press
4. Remove the first diskette, then insert the second diskette into the disk drive and press
Enter.
