8.11. Logging On to UnixWare
Caution
To prevent unauthorized access to the UnixWare node following initial installation,
the site must change the default password to a different password.
Note: Switch the monitor concentrator to the Intel Node position before beginning (see
2.5.2).
Several installation and configuration procedures require you to log on as the root user
(user-id root). Root logon also provides superuser privileges.
8.11.1. Logging On As the Root User (Superuser)
When UnixWare displays the graphical user interface (GUI) logon screen, log on as
follows:
1. In the Login ID field, enter root.
2. In the Password field, enter unisysas.
3. Click Login or press Enter.
The UnixWare graphical desktop appears following this logon.
8.11.2. Switching Windows
You can switch between graphical mode and console(character ) mode, and switch among
all configured windows, by using either of these control key combinations:
Alt-PrintScreen-N Next window
Alt-PrintScreen-P Previous window
8.12. Creating and Using UnixWare Emergency
Recovery Diskettes
Caution
You must create emergency recovery diskettes to use to boot the UnixWare node
in the event that the console output redirection procedure described in Section 12
is not successful. As described in Section 10, you also need to create emergency
recovery diskettes for use with a SPO server running UnixWare.
