8.4.3. Installing the Drivers Updates
Installing UnixWare 7
To install the UnixWare 7.x.x Drivers/Updates diskette (Unisys), do the following:
1. Log on as the root user (user-id root) (8.12.1).
2. Insert the UW 7.x.x Drivers/Updates diskette into the primary diskette drive.
3. Open the console window.
4. From the command line at the root directory, enter the following pkgadd command
and press Enter:
pkgadd -d diskette1
5. Press Enter to continue.
You receive a message asking you not to remove the diskette from the drive. Then you
are prompted for the number or name of the package you want to add.
6. Enter package number 1.
Read each information screen for the package, repeating these steps as necessary:
a. Press Enter each time to move to the next screen.
b. Select Y to proceed with installation.

You receive a message when the installation is completed.
Type q and press Enter to quit.
8. Remove the diskette from the drive and store it safely.
9. Shut down the system by doing the following (from the graphical interface):
a. In the task bar, click the second arrow from the right, above the fifth icon from the
right, to present the SCO menu.
b. Click the SCO Admin icon.
c. Double-click System.
d. Double-click System Shutdown Manager.
e. Select Shutdown.
f. Select Begin Shutdown.
g. Select OK.
h. Select OK.
Note: System shutdown is configured for a 1-minute wait.
10. Press any key to reboot.
11. After the system restarts, log on as the root user (user-id root) (8.12.1).
Add and run the tuning script. Continue by installing and running the tuning script (8.8).
