7.2.8. Installing ess Software
For the installation of your ess software, refer to the appropriate manuals that came with
your server:
• Aquanta ess Software Release Notes
• Aquanta ES5000 Series with Windows NT Getting Started and Reinstallation Guide
• Aquanta ES2000 Series with Windows NT Getting Started and Reinstallation Guide
To avoid setup issues, sites installing ess software should use the ClearPath IOE version of
DEPCON instead of the ess version.
Continue with the steps in 7.2.9.
7.2.9. Installing the Service Pack
Follow this procedure to install the service pack for Windows 2000:
1. Insert the service pack CD-ROM (labeled “Windows 2000 Service Pack n”) into the
drive unit. Internet Explorer should start automatically, and a Service Pack home page
should appear. (See the note below for the exception.)
2. Click the Install Service Pack n link, then click the blue-highlighted “Click here” to
install service pack n.
The file download menu appears.
3. Click “Run this program from its current location,” then click OK.
The security warning window appears.
4. Click Yes to continue.
A License Agreement screen appears.
5. Click the check box to accept the license agreement. Uncheck the backup-files box.
6. Click the Install button.
Files are copied and the service pack is installed. When setup finishes, a prompt
appears to reboot the server.
7. Click Restart.

7.2.10. Creating an Emergency Repair Disk
Upon completion of Windows 2000 installation, be sure that you have a final copy of your
Windows 2000 configuration by creating an emergency repair disk, as follows:
1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows 2000 node and log
on as the administrator.
2. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup.
