Completing Windows Installation 3. Click the General tab and configure the general preferences as follows: a. In the box labeled “Start automatically when Windows starts,” click “Start before logon” to select it. b. Ensure that the check box labeled “Waiting for incoming connection on startup” is selected (has a check mark). If it does not, click the check box to select it. 4. Click the TCP/IP tab and configure TCP/IP preferences as follows: a. Click “Allow incoming calls” to select it, if it is not already selected. 5. b. If “Enable inactivity timer” is selected (has a check mark), click its check box to deselect it. Click OK to close the window. 6. Click File, then click Exit to close ControlIT. 7. Reboot the Windows NT node. ControlIT automatically starts in Listen mode, ready to be controlled remotely from the SPO workstation. Continue with the steps in 7.1.10. 7.1.10. Configuring the Tape Drive If the Windows NT node has a tape drive unit, configure it as follows: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. 2. Insert the Windows NT CD-ROM (labeled “Microsoft Windows NT Server Disc 1”) into the CD-ROM drive. 3. Close the Windows NT CD-ROM autostart screen when it appears. 4. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. A Control Panel window opens. 5. Double-click Tape Devices. A Tape Drives window opens. 6. Click OK to install the driver now. 7. Click OK and close the Control Panel window. 8. Click Start, then select Programs > Administrative Tools > Backup. 9. Click Operations, then click Hardware Setup. A list appears. Verify that one of the following entries is in that list, followed by a version number (for example, 330B): SCSI 2, Bus 0, Id 6, Lun 0, HP c1537A SCSI 0, Bus 1, Id 5, Lun 0 SONY SDT-5000 7–14 Version 009B (Web Only) 7850 5104–009

Setting Balanced Server Priorities Completing Windows Installation To set up the Windows NT node for balanced file and application server priorities, take the following steps: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. 2. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Network icon. 4. Click the Services tab, and in the window that opens set the properties as follows: a. Click the Server line to select it. b. Click Properties. c. Click the Balance option to select it. d. Click OK to apply the selection and close the window. 5. In the Network window, click Close to apply the changes and close the window. 6. Close the Control Panel window. 7. Click YES to reboot the server. Continue by configuring the FTP service (7.1.12). 7.1.12. Configuring the FTP Service To configure the the FTP service, take the following steps: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. 2. Click Start > Programs > Microsoft Internet Server (common) > Internet Services Manager. 3. In the Computer column, double-click the icon associated with the FTP service (FTP listed in Service column). A tabbed FTP Service Properties screen opens. 4. Click the Directories tab and configure access as follows: a. Select the drive:\InetPub\ftproot (alias ) directory by clicking on it. The drive may be C or D. b. Completing Windows <strong>Installation</strong><br />

4. Click the TCP/IP tab <strong>and</strong> configure TCP/IP preferences as follows:<br />

Click OK to close the window.<br />
6. Click File, then click Exit to close ControlIT.<br />
7. Reboot the Windows NT node.<br />
ControlIT automatically starts in Listen mode, ready to be controlled remotely from the<br />
SPO workstation.<br />

7.1.10. Configuring the Tape Drive<br />
If the Windows NT node has a tape drive unit, configure it as follows:<br />
1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node <strong>and</strong> log<br />
on as the administrator.<br />
2. Insert the Windows NT CD-ROM (labeled “Microsoft Windows NT Server Disc 1”) into<br />
the CD-ROM drive.<br />
3. Close the Windows NT CD-ROM autostart screen when it appears.<br />
4. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.<br />
A Control Panel window opens.<br />
5. Double-click Tape Devices.<br />
A Tape Drives window opens.<br />
6. Click OK to install the driver now.<br />
7. Click OK <strong>and</strong> close the Control Panel window.<br />
8. Click Start, then select Programs > Administrative Tools > Backup.<br />
9. Click Operations, then click Hardware Setup.<br />
A list appears. Verify that one of the following entries is in that list, followed by a<br />
version number (for example, 330B):<br />
