Completing Windows Installation 10. Reboot the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. (This reboot applies the changes you made to the environment.) Continue by configuring ClearPath networking (7.1.3). 7.1.3. Configuring ClearPath Networking Following installation of Windows NT Server, you must set up a hosts file so that the Windows NT node can communicate with other nodes on the private interconnect (FDDI LAN). Take the following steps to set up the hosts file: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. 2. Click Start, then Run. A Run window appears. 3. Insert the hosts file setup diskette (labeled “NT Installation Tools”) into the drive unit. 4. In the Run window, type the following, then click OK: a:copyhost ClearPath HMP IX also provides some TCP/IP stack optimization settings to improve network performance by adding some entries to the registry. With the “NT Installation Tools” diskette still in the drive 1. Click Start, then Run. A Run window appears. 2. In the Run window, type the following, then click OK: a:tunent.reg 3. A Registry Editor box appears that confirms that the information has been entered into the registry. Click OK to close it. Continue by configuring the number of client licenses (7.1.4). 7.1.4. Configuring the Number of Client Licenses The number of client licenses provided with the Windows NT node depends on the version of Windows NT: • Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition provides 25 licenses (ES2045R, ES5085R, or ES2024R). • Windows NT Server 4.0 provides 10 licenses (DR/2). Completing Windows Installation To set up the correct number of licenses using the Windows NT license manager, take the following steps: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. 2. Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > License Manager. An Enterprise-License Manager window opens. 3. Click the Purchase History tab (if it is not already in front). 4. Select License, then New License from the menu bar. 5. From the Product drop-down box, select Windows NT Server. 6. Set the Quantity field to the number appropriate to the Windows NT Server version: • For Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition (ES2045R, ES5085R, or ES2024R), set the number to 25. • For Windows NT Server 4.0 (DR/2), set the number to 10. 7. In the Comment field, type in the following: Initial ClearPath Licenses 8. Click OK. 9. In the Per Seat Licensing window, click “I agree,” then click OK to proceed. 10. Exit License Manager by selecting License; then select Exit from the menu bar or click the upper right-hand corner X box. Continue with the steps in 7.1.5. 7.1.5. Installing and Configuring RAID Utility Software After installing and configuring Windows NT and the service pack, install and configure the RAID utility software for the Windows NT node. Follow the appropriate set of instructions below, depending on the type of hardware you have: • A DR/2 • An ES5044R, ES5085R, ES2045R, or ES2024R Installing and Configuring RAID for a DR/2 Node These are the steps for installing and configuring the FlexRAID utility software for a DR/2 server with an AMI Megaraid controller: 1. If you are not currently logged on, power on or restart the Windows NT node and log on as the administrator. 2. Insert the diskette labeled “Windows NT 4.0/3.51 Driver MEGARAID.SYS...” (Disk 1 of 2), containing the RAID drivers. 3. Click Start, then Run. Completing Windows <strong>Installation</strong><br />

7.1.5. Installing <strong>and</strong> Configuring RAID Utility Software<br />
After installing <strong>and</strong> configuring Windows NT <strong>and</strong> the service pack, install <strong>and</strong> configure the<br />
RAID utility software for the Windows NT node. Follow the appropriate set of instructions<br />
below, depending on the type of hardware you have:<br />
• A DR/2<br />
• An ES5044R, ES5085R, ES2045R, or ES2024R<br />

These are the steps for installing <strong>and</strong> configuring the FlexRAID utility software for a DR/2<br />
server with an AMI Megaraid controller:<br />
