You are prompted to insert disk 3 as follows: Windows NT Server Setup ======================= Please insert the disk labeled Windows NT Server Setup Disk #3 into Drive A: *Press ENTER when ready 9. Insert the diskette labeled “1-8 CPU Edition Setup Disk 3” into the drive, then press Enter to continue. The following message appears at the top of the screen, followed by a message confirming that the adapters have been recognized. Windows NT Server Setup ======================= Setup has detected that one or more of your hard disks has more than 1024 cylinders 10. Press Enter again. Note: You may be prompted to insert the CD-ROM, if you did not do so as instructed in step 1. A message states that Setup has detected that your computer’s hard disk is new. 11. Press C to continue. A license agreement text screen then appears. 12. Read the contents of the license agreement as follows: a. Read the contents of the first page, then press the Page Down key to read the next page. b. When you reach the last page, press F8 to indicate that you agree with the terms of the license agreement . A hardware and software components list appears for you to verify. 13. Be sure that the Computer line reads “MPS Multiprocessor PC.” If it does not, use the arrow keys to move to that line, press Enter and change as needed. 14. Press Enter to continue. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to move the highlight to an item in the list. To install Windows NT on the highlighted partition or unpartitioned space, press ENTER. To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C. To delete the highlighted partition, press D. Unpartitioned space xxxx MB ENTER=Install C=Create Partition F1=Help F3=Exit 15. Use the arrow key to highlight Unpartitioned space, then press C to create a new partition. You are prompted to enter the size of the partition to be created. 16. Press Backspace to clear the field, type 2048, then press Enter. The screen now shows a new partition with unformatted space of 2047 MB. 17. Select the new, unformatted partition, then press Enter. A message asks you to select a file system for the partition. Format the partition using the FAT file system Format the partition using the NTFS file system 18. Use the up and down arrow keys to select the NT file system (NTFS), then press Enter. A message indicates that the disk is being formatted. After the disk is formatted, a message appears asking for the directory in which to install Windows NT. 19. Press Enter to accept the default directory (WINNT). A message asks whether you want an exhaustive examination of the hard drives. 20. Press Enter to perform an exhaustive examination of the hard disk. The examination takes a few seconds.
