Installing Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition (ES2045R)
• In the IP Address field, enter the IP address for the Windows NT node from
Table 2–2, then press Tab.
• Change the subnet mask to the netmask address identified in Table 2–2, or
skip this field (accept the default).
• If you have a gateway (router), click Advanced and take the following steps:
• Click Add.
• In the New Gateway field, type the gateway address identified in Table 2–2.
• Click Add.
The address appears in the Installed gateways list box.
• Repeat these steps for each additional gateway required, then click OK when
done.
c. If the site chooses to implement WINS, click the WINS Address tab (otherwise
skip this step), then enter the following WINS information:
• In the Primary WINS Server field, type the address identified in Table 2–2, then
press Tab.
• If applicable, type the IP address of the Secondary WINS Server identified in
Table 2–2.
d. Click the DNS tab and take the following steps:
1) Enter the IP address for the first DNS server from Table 2–2, if the site has any
DNS servers.
2) Click Add.
The DNS address is added to the search order list box.
3) Repeat these steps for each additional DNS server.
4) Enter a domain name, if possible, for proper operation of the IIS services.
e. Click the Routing tab. Then click “Enable IP forwarding” to clear the check box if
it is not already clear. This ensures the security of the HMP interconnect. You
must not enable IP forwarding.
14. Click OK.
The following message appears if (and only if) you have selected to install WINS:
At least one adapter card has an empty WINS address.
Do you want to continue?
15. Click YES.
Windows NT loads files and configures the network, and then the tabbed date/time
properties screen appears.
16. Click the Time zone tab and, if necessary, take the following steps for each field:
a. Time zone—To change the time zone, click on the scroll bar arrow and scroll up or
down to select the correct time zone. The map shifts over the time zone selected.
b. Daylight saving time—Click the check box to select daylight saving time if it
applies to the time zone.
