Michael Landis is currently the Saratoga County
History Center's Communications Director and
Public Programs Manager (Ballston Spa, NY). In
addition, he works as a Research Associate at
Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Also known as Dr. Michael Landis, he is a historian,
educator, and author with a wide range of skills.

Antebellum and Civil War America, Slavery, Politics
and Partisanship, and Public History are just a few of
his academic interests. Michael Landis graduated
from The George Washington University with a Ph.D.
in History.

Michael Landis has written books and has been a
peer reviewer for a variety of papers, essays, and
book chapters. In 2014, he published Northern
Men with Southern Loyalties: The Democratic Party
and the Sectional Crisis with Cornell University
Press.

Michael Landis is a gifted and accomplished
professional who has accomplished much in his

Michael Landis has been invited to a number of events
and conferences in recent years. Furthermore, he has
also written op-ed pieces for national publications
