Visitor Safety A s things seem to be progressing towards a less restricted lifestyle, hopefully the Department of tourism, along with Provincial and local Government agencies will see the importance of putting safety as a priority for locals and visitors as recreation becomes more available and hopefully also the reopening of the tourism industry. As the only Philippine Coast Guard approved and accredited Lifeguard Training and certifying organization in Luzon, Zambales Lifesaving Inc. has a close relationship with many of the resorts within Zambales, Pangasinan, Bataan, Tarlac, Cavite and both Subic and Clark Freeport Zones, as they are the major lifeguard training partner for the large majority if these. These resorts are also a major source of employment for the local communities... Many though do not realize how badly the large majority of these businesses have been effected, both big and small, though the smaller, especially family owned resorts, who’s overheads are less and being family can circumvent many of the labor laws and requirements, such as mandatory FilHealth, SSS etc and the thirteenth months’ pay requirements, plus the majority of these do not have rental to meet, however they also have been impacted with additional requirements such as meeting DOT standards and regulations that they were previously not required to do, though all are doing it hard, certainly the larger resorts have been impacted more heavily, even to the point that many have actually closed or are contemplating selling.
