TOP 40 TIPS: GET READY FOR YOUR ROAD TRIP A well-planned road trip can be a great adventure but good preparation can ensure you don’t have any unplanned mishaps along the way. Make sure you prepare a pre-trip checklist specific to your own RV and vehicle. We’ve created one to help you get you started with your pre-trip preparation. CAR & CARAVAN SAFETY Check the functionality of all critical internal features, including fridge, cooktop, water pump, air conditioner and toilet. Antenna in the travel position No loose items in cupboards or on shelves Fire extinguisher fitted in car and caravan is recommended First aid kit Check the smoke alarm How long since your gas cylinders and LPG regulators were checked? Ensure your gas cylinders are completely off and well secured before driving Is it time to flush out water tanks and check for mould? How are your brakes? Do a small test drive before your big trip and leave time for remedial work if required Wheel bearings adjusted and serviced Wheel nuts tight Check the condition of your tyres, including spares, and that the tyre pressure matches your load Does your handbrake need adjustment? What is the status of safety chains and the jockey wheel?
