BUCKEYE NETWORK
To a recent graduate, nothing is more important than
the advice of fellow alumni. This is why the Buckeye
Network is being created by the Alumni Association
and Career Exploration Office: as a professional career
contact system that links graduates by harnessing the
broad scope of the Ohio State alumni universe. This
searchable database of alumni volunteers is the first of
its kind at Ohio State. Importantly, this is not simply a
listing of alumni in select fields or cities, but is a
database of those who have agreed to serve as career
contacts by registering their own career information
online.
This type of networking resource is important, whether
an alumnus is in the job market for the first time or
making the transition from one career to another.
NEWS
The Alumni Association is asking successful Alumni
Association members to register as a career contact.
Simply visit www.ohiostatealumni.org, and follow the
links to the Buckeye Network. You will go through a
quick, three-step registration process to enter your
contact information (note: having your Alumni
Association membership card or current Ohio State
Alumni Magazine handy will facilitate the process).
Those conducting a search on the Buckeye Network
will be able to locate alumni by career category or by
city/geographic region. Users may also search based on
career stage, by special interest category, or by
college/school. Career contacts themselves may
indicate whether they are in a position to offer
internships or willing to help the user to find
employment. All of these features will make the
Buckeye Network an indispensable career search tool.
The key is to build a strong alumni database, and your
registration will help. The goal is to promote the
Buckeye Network as a viable career service with a
listing of several thousand alumni who are willing to
provide their advice!
