Liberty and Glory's Happy Tail
Liberty, a 4-month-old puppy, and her mom Glory
were surrendered to Peggy Adams in September. The
owner reported that Liberty was born without paws
but that she was able to get around without an issue.
Neither dog had been to a veterinarian in the past.
Liberty's x-ray
We performed x-rays and found that Liberty has
underdeveloped or missing bones in her front legs and
no wrists or front feet. She walks around sometimes as
a human does, on her two back legs. Other times, she
will put some weight on what front legs she does have.
Fortunately, Liberty is only 3½ pounds so it’s not too
much weight for her to put on her nubs!
Upon a physical exam, our veterinarians did not
find any other abnormalities with Liberty, just the
underdevelopment of her front legs. Once both dogs
received a clean bill of health, they were ready to
be placed up for adoption. Liberty and Glory were
extremely bonded, our goal was to find a forever
home where they could live together. Liberty and
Glory were adopted into their perfect new home on
September 11, 2021.
“It was during my volunteer shift at the shelter when
Liberty and Glory were surrendered. When someone
mentioned to me to go check them out, I fell in love
immediately. I spent time with them and took pictures
and video. When I came out of their kennel, a staff
member saw me and said, ‘I can see it in your eyes
you want them’. I said “yes” and put in my request
to adopt!”
“This was out of my league, as I usually rescue the
senior dogs who are overlooked because of their age
and/or medical condition.”
“I received a text on Friday letting me know that I
could pick them up on Saturday, which was 9/11.
And that is how I came up with their new names,
Liberty and Glory.”
“They both are so lovable and always giving kisses and
soaking up the love! They love their belly rubs! They
are inseparable. I bought a puppy sling for Liberty so
she too can go out when Glory takes a walk. When
Liberty is full grown, she’ll get her own set of hot
wheels! Then Liberty and Glory will be able to ‘walk
and roll!!!’ ” – Judy
