Pets Evacuated from Louisiana Find a New Leash on Life in Florida
Each person and each animal has a unique story.
Because of your support, we are here to help those
in need.
South Florida was extremely fortunate to not have
been affected by hurricanes in 2021. Other states were
not so fortunate. In September, Hurricane Ida ripped
through the state of Louisiana and Mississippi causing
destruction and lengthy power outages.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and other
local animal rescue organizations had to step in to
help! A rescue mission, coordinated by the Florida
Association of Animal Welfare Organization, was
planned to transfer 270 dogs and cats from the
devastated area to Orlando. From there, a dozen
animal rescue organizations transferred these
homeless pets to various Florida shelters…including
Peggy Adams.
Following safety and medical protocols, all the
animals were placed under quarantine for two weeks.
Once they were cleared for adoption, they were
placed in our adoption program. While most of them
have found their loving forever homes, some are still
waiting for their new families to come adopt them.
