KIDS' CORNER
It’s always a great time to instill philanthropy in
children. Philanthropy is not only for adults or the
wealthy, but that anyone trying to better the society is
a philanthropist!
Special thanks to the Facebook group “Mystic
Michaela Spiritual Family”. They are a group of 8,000
like-minded individuals who want to help raise
kindness and compassion in the world around us.
They consider their empathy to be their superpower
and find that advocating for others is one way to do
so. In May, they donated items from our wish list and
again donated $200 in August.
Thank you, Michaela and Friends!
Jessie Brooker and Isabel, lifelong scouting friends,
chose to help Peggy Adams for their Girl Scout
Silver Award Project because they love animals…
especially kittens! When the girls were volunteering,
they noticed how toys were linked to increased
confidence, especially with shy kittens. “Cats have
instincts that make them effective hunters and playing
with toys gives them an outlet for energy inside their
kennel environment,” said Jessie Brooke. Many cats
like toys from pet supply stores just fine, but Jessie
Brooke wanted to give them something special and
homemade, as Girl Scouts often do. She put her
artistic skills to work by sewing catnip pillows and
donating them to rescue centers.
Thank you, Jessie Brooke and Isabel!
